Biography

Inspired by the primary colors and surrealism of Joan Miró and the abstract expressionists, Donna Dos Santos studied impressionism and abstract painting at Otis College of Art & Design under the tutelage of Bonita Helmer (a protégé of Françoise Gilot). Though Donna works in a variety of mediums, she taught herself the art of encaustic painting.

She has always loved to draw, but it was being house-bound by a torn Achilles tendon which allowed her to return to serious painting. Her paintings are dominated by bright primary colors tickled with dulls for color balance. Texture, color, balance and movement all come together as a whole to bring life to her paintings.
