My intention is to allow the painting to meet the moving picture and let the two tell the story.

I found the two combined offer a great opportunity to time-stamp unique moments.

Born in Los Angeles, I discovered my love for art as a child. But I wouldn't take any art classes until I was an adult in college.

Having studied my love professionally, I must say that I haven't any regrets about stopping my study to include Cinema. For the moving picture is art too where I've found that merging the two was a newfound delight.

Michael Bezman is a Documentary Gathering Photographer based in Los Angeles, California, traveling often. Born in Russia, grew up in Israel, lived in Australia, Thailand and the United States. His style of photography is characterized as candid, documentary - Michael captures fleeting moments of reality in history.

Presently painting abstracts on canvas using acrylics. Other art work ranges from painting on silk using French dyes, mix media using found objects, drawing with pastels, photography when time allows and creating wall hangings by manipulating fabric in various ways (was a member of the Missouri Fiber Artists until September 2014). I simply love the creative process - whether starting with a blank canvas, a blank sheet of paper, a piece of fabric and ending with a wonderful work of art!

Have been creative as long as I can remember. Received a BA in Fine Art 1980 from UMass Boston. Additionally, I have taken silk painting classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York City in 1997. Have done many arts and crafts venues over the years. My art work has been exhibited in MA, NY,and MO. Since retirement, I have been free to create more art uninterrupted. I was one of the founders of a Women's art gallery in St. Louis, MO, 2010. I am now looking forward to experiencing the art community here in the California area.

Highly influenced by artists like Hopper, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Diebenkorn, I paints multicultural urban Los Angeles with all its contradictions and poetry.

I am trying to blend my classical European artistic background with contemporary conceptual approach. In the LA urban environment I am looking for and finding manifestations of eternal human values, such as love, faith, longing, and the strife for a better life. I try to see real people and their life through the facades of the buildings depicted with much love and connection.

Kirill Chelyapov was born in Moscow in 1968. He was working for Russian TV since 1989 as a tele journalist, cameraman, director, editor, anchor. Now he is a producer at one of the Federal Russian TV channels in the documentary film department. Lately, besides work for television, he started publishing children's books. Married, is raising two daughters.

Nickolas Peter Chelyapov was born in Moscow in 1981.

Emigrated to Los Angeles in 1989 with family. Graduated from USC with BA of Arts. He resides in Cambridge, MA, with his wife Kate Balug. Works as a freelance graphic designer.

-- Distant Memories series --

My family moved from Hong Kong to Los Angeles when I was sixteen. Those first years were difficult for an immigrant teenager due to language and culture shifts, and at times were overwhelming as I tried to find my place in this new world. From discovery, insight and serendipity, the American culture was slowly absorbed. More specific to So Cal, the beach architype is ingrained in the lifestyle, and I quickly learned that it was a place that provided comfort and inspiration to me as a young man. I now frequent the beach regularly as a place for relaxation and observation.

With this series, Distant Memories, I capture the childhood that I could have experienced, those weekend forays to museums, outings to the waters edge, with family, friends and a picnic basket filled with the ingredients for a perfect day. Like finding shells on the shore, I am collecting visual memories.

And while they might not be my memories, they allow me to imagine a childhood in a place I now call home.

Richard S. Chow is a fine art and documentary photographer. His work are honored with awards, solo and juried exhibits across the U.S., exhibited in galleries, internationally published and is featured in several private collections.

He has won awards 3 years in a row (2013, 14, 15) from Lucie Foundation’s IPA International Photography Awards; having work shown at photo l.a.Fair every January since 2013. His solo shows were held at the Cause Gallery in the renowned Chung-King Road in Los Angeles, and The Gallery Presents in Hawthorne CA. Richard is also a producer for OPEN SHOW (LA Chapter), a global non-profit organization that provides a forum for powerful dialog between the public/collectors, partners, and artists. Richard is represented by Gallery 825; LA Arts Association, and a curator at the Los Angeles Photo Curators. Richard served as Vice-Chair and Chairman of the Board for the nonprofit Create Now, whose mission is to transform lives for at-risk youth through arts mentoring. Alice Esposito is a Director and Photographer.

Inspired by Fellini, Antonioni, Rossellini, Welles, and Marker, her work is a blend of fantasy and physical comedy. It feels of nostalgic romanticism and everlasting presence of ironic sadness, search of unrequited love with a pinch of Noir.

She loves Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Peter Sellers.

Working alongside photographers and directors from both Europe and United States, she developed a visually appealing photographic style that accompanies her work in all media.

Her research through experimental movies, shorts, and documentaries captures the moment just lived and history at once, sentimental dreams of the past and expectation of the future.

Born in Rome, studied and lived in Milan, London, Manchester, Stockholm, Budapest, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Graduated in Visual Art at the New Academy of Fine Art (NABA) in Milan with a double major in Photography and Visual Media.

Achieved her MFA in Visual Media and Visual Studies at SFSU in San Francisco.

Drawings, photography and short movies were featured in galleries and festivals in Europe and America.

I embarked on my journey as an artist just a few years ago, initially experimenting with colored pencil sketches. As my artistic exploration evolved, I delved into the realm of digital manipulation, utilizing graphic software to transform my creations in diverse ways. However, it was my collaboration with AI that truly ignited a new chapter in my artistic development. Early Life

Frank Griffin was born in Garforth, UK near the Yorkshire Dales in 1953. His mother

was a gifted painter and yoga teacher and his father was the village photographer.

Career:

1970s

Frank started his career as a photographer in Munich, Germany attending rock

concerts and publishing his pictures at “Bravo” magazine, the largest young

audience magazine within German-language sphere at that time. He quickly became

a part of bustling British and European punk and rock music movement, and

documented lives and concerts of many legendary British and US bands and singers

like Dire Straights, Led Zeppelin, Status Quo, The Knack, The Police, Blondie.

1980s

Frank moved back to London in 1980. He worked in his photo studio photographing

bands, shooting concerts and home sessions, as well as doing stills and music videos

all over the world.

In 1985 Frank was one of 30 accredited photographers covering the legendary “Live

Aid” marathon-concert at Wembley stadium, UK. His images among others were

published in the official photo album of “Live Aid”.

In 1987-1989 Frank Griffin became the personal photographer for Prince, and

travelled with the signer and his band on both tours “Sign O’ the Times” and

“Lovesexy”.

Among other bands and singers photographed at this period were George Harrison

at “Hand Made Films” (at his office), Paul McCartney with “Wings” (in his recording

studio and on the road), Rolling Stones (live in Leeds), Knack (USA West Coast tour),

Aerosmith (live in Dusseldorf, Germany), Dire Straights (European tour), Blondie

(live in Germany and UK), Police (European tour), Thompson Twins (video shoot in

Portugal), Soft Cell (PA in Greece), A-Ha (live in Sweden), Duran Duran (live in UK,

video shoots in the studio), Spandau Ballet (live in Covent Garden, UK), Pretenders

(shoots in studio, Munich, Germany), B52 (Bravo studio, Munich, Germany), Fine

Young Cannibals (studio, London, UK), Kim Wilde (concerts and studio in London,

UK), Roxy Music (live in Dublin, Ireland), Guns & Roses (live at Hammersmith

Odeon, UK supporting Kiss), Motorhead (live at the Hammersmith Odeon, UK),

Queen (live at Wembley Arena, UK).

Some of the indelible memories of this time was Freddie Mercury’s 41 st birthday

party at Pike’s Hotel and Fredddie’s later performance with Montsserat Caballe at

Ibiza’s Ku club in Spain, where the singers introduced a world mega hit “Barcelona”.

1990s and 2000s

In 1989 after taking part in a historical New Year celebration helping demolish

the Berlin Wall, Frank made a decision and moved to the USA to start a new page of

his life.

After extensive travelling in the USA Frank chose Los Angeles as his home. Frank

with his partner founded a photo agency specializing in celebrities and event

photography. Frank appeared in CNN programs, his images have been published in

Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone magazine, People magazine as well as many other

publications worldwide.

One of the interesting experiences of this period was O.J.Simpson trial where Frank

was on the rota at the courtroom, and took a famous picture of the White Bronco

chase that was published in “Paris Match” cover page.

Nowadays Frank Griffin turned his lens to Los Angeles city landmarks and

architecture. It became a natural extension of his rich photographic experience and

artistic expression. He centers his focus around Los Angeles, its modern

architectural forms, changing landscapes, popular city spots, and celebrity hangouts.

The resulting images give a mix of simplicity and sophistication, as if hiding and

revealing this city’s unique nature.

Narine Isajanyan was born in Armenian and began drawing and painting at the age of five. During her childhood she visited many museums and galleries in Armenian and St. Petersburg, as well as receiving training in music and dance. In college she continued her training in art and received a Bachelors degree in 1987 from the College of Architecture in Yerevan. She moved to Moscow to study at the Moscow Architectural Institute but found Soviet regulations with architecture too restrictive and sought more freedom to express her ideas through her art. She returned to Armenian and studied art with Manvel Bagdasaryan and Samvel Bagdasaryan and later received a Masters degree in Fine Arts from the Yerevan University of Art and Theater. She first started exhibiting her art in 1990 in Armenia and has participated in numerous shows in Moscow, Beruit, Abu Dhabi, Croatia and Belgium. She came to the United States in 1998 when she was invited to participate in an art exhibition and since then has exhibited her paintings at many galleries in the Los Angeles area.

Inspired by the impressionist painter Monet, Narine's work is expressionist, minimalist and conceptual by turns. Whether on canvas, paper, board, wood or actually made of metal, her pieces become abstract landscapes that are as fluid within as they are consistent and organic as a whole.

About her art, Narine says, "When I paint, I feel like I am flying and dancing; I hear music in my mind. Through my art I want to express the freedom I feel in my soul."

I'm not really interested in creating portraits for a woman that define them in a documentary fashion... my goal has always been to transform her, to reveal that intangible something that is uniquely alluring and dangerous...sometimes that may include the object of her desire.

Krisjan Klenow, Cal Arts alumni, began using her skills as an artist and photographer in the 80's

to create with costume, hair design and theatrical make-up, fantasy images based on mythical legends.

Later she revisited many other subjects including Film Noir, Vintage Pin-up and Victorian Portrait Photography while making reference to Modern Pop Culture.

Her current work gives homage to the printing process it self:Low Tech/High Tech. The "Alternative Portrait" embodies a humorous treatment of an opinion and or a dramatic visual tale. It is the translation of film into a digital image that imitates the litho and silkscreen printing processes used to produce graphic novels and theater posters.

Born in 1982, Dan Lopez is a native Angeleno whose photography showcases the less frequently seen corners of LA, and documents the transient nature of these landscapes. His photographs explore how urban decay, architectural abstraction and hidden treasure create a kind of anthropological puzzle composed of crumbling facades, dilapidated signage and countless coats of paint. His use of color and tone underscore the latent humor and surreality hidden in the banal, creating a visual narrative through an imagined history.

Dan is also the Principal and Creative Director at Logo Exchange, a branding and identity shop.

The past that has never been.

Everyone has it.

It lives by itself. It has its own past.

It rarely corresponds with real facts and events.

Yet this is the past that lives in our dreams, in our nightmares,

in our consciousness, in our memories.

It is not fake, it is not false. It is just different.

Different in a way that the house

where I had definitely lived many years ago

now stands on a street that I have never been to.

Or maybe it is in another town or another country altogether.

Does it matter?

Not really.

This is still my house, my street, my city.

Never flown these planes, either.

Nor have I ever had a desire to do anything of sorts.

It doesn't matter.

Their job is to fly, or just simply to be beautiful.

My job is just to observe.

1985 - Graduated from The Moscow Art Theater School, Production Faculty, specializing in production management, set design, costume and lighting design. Also studied illustration and graphic design.

1987- Started an ongoing friendship and collaboration with critically-acclaimed director Igor Kovalyov.

1994 - Began to work in animation at the Pilot Animation Studio, Moscow. Participated in Kovalyov's second film "Andrey Svislotsky"

1994 - Invited to work at Klasky Csupo Animation Studio in Los Angeles, and continued working alongside Kovalyov on various projects.

Art Directed four animated feature movies, including "Rugrats: The Movie".

Developed concept art for successful live action film "Bridge to Terabithia".

Restored rare and antique paintings at Tivetsky's Fine Art Restoration studio for two years.

Collaboration with Kovalyov continued on several projects: "Bird In The Window", "Flying Nansen" and "Milch".

2007 - Worked as Art Director of 2007 box office smash hit "Simpsons: The Movie”.

2014 - Shortly after began working for production company Film Roman, and continues to work as Art Director for the television series “The Simpsons”.

2014 - Received Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

I am a artist-photographer currently interested in emulating alternative photographic processes using digital techniques.

My photographs have been in museums and galleries across the U.S. and have been published in many books and magazines.

My art has never followed a particular theme or plan… I just create and record things of beauty. As long as I can remember, I have been inspired by most everything I see, with things found in nature being my favorite.

My love of all things creative began in my early childhood, and were nurtured by both of my parents who were creative in their own rite. Instead of buying me coloring books, they would buy a pad of paper, crayons, paint, and pens then leave me to create my own fantasies.

My love of photography started in 1976 and ever since, I am rarely ever seen without my camera hanging from my neck. I worked as a journalistic photographer for a few years but soon traded the people and events in for nature. I guess I have always taken pictures in my mind, but through nature and landscape photography I can express my feelings using my camera to record the beauty I see.

Although I was Biology major in college, I kept gravitating back to my art. My next creative adventure was becoming a Graphic Designer (self taught) in the late 70’s, where I utilized all my talents to communicate whether it be a magazine, a logo, or working on movie posters and billboards.

Whether I am practicing my craft with old school techniques, or utilizing mind bending digital media… I tell stories through my art, be it photography, paintings, prints or anything else I can come up with, that represent all that I have seen and experienced, and all that I can imagine.

Jermaine Saunders creates media artworks, paintings, photos and drawings. By parodying mass media by exaggerating certain formal aspects inherent to our contemporary society, Saunders investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.

Good judgement comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgement.

Revision in progress

With an artist’s eye, I have always had an appreciation for beautiful things. I have a keen awareness that beauty is in the eye of the beholder so identifying beauty that is acceptable to everyone is an unobtainable feat. Accepting that as a fact allowed me to focus on creating art that is beautiful and pleasing to me. If others like it too, then that is wonderful.

Some of my artistic influences are greats like Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky, and Larry Poons in the art world, and Ansel Adams, Berenice Abbott, and Ernst Haas in the world of photography. These artists are where I draw my inspiration, however, I take pains to try to never emulate the greats. It is important to me that I create in the moment; through the relationship that I have built with the God of my understanding, who I believe works through me.

My paintings are, mostly, in the abstract style while my photography is, mostly, the beauty of nature, yet sometimes there is still an abstract bent to it.

I never really start out with a preconceived idea of what I want my end product to be or look like. I paint very organically. I select a canvas, select an initial paint color and select a paint brush, then I let the God of my understanding guide me from there. I become just the vessel which is being used to construct, hopefully, a thing of beauty/interest. I try to keep my conscious, self-willed mind from over-ruling that part of my mind that is God-directed. This is difficult but the outcome, in my opinion, is a more natural, beautiful work of art.

I have had an interest in art and photography since a very early age. For reasons unknown to me, I would always find myself doodling. Whenever there was a pencil/pen and paper around, I would doodle. Sometimes the shapes and forms were recognizable, while other times it would look like anything that I had ever seen before. While in college I took a couple of art classes (basic drawing and ceramics). However, upon graduation I entered into the corporate world. 25+ years later I found myself burning out on corporate jobs and decided to spend the rest of my life pursuing my creative side. I purchased canvas and brushes and acrylic paints and had at it. I also purchased a digital SLR camera and became a shutterbug. Friends that I showed my work to thought it was good and encouraged me to show my work. I have since shared my art and photographs in 3 shows:

I have chosen to, mostly, work in Acrylic paints but do use other mediums from time to time.

Statement:

These photographs come from an ongoing series of mine called "Muscle Beach". Every year professional and amateur body builders gather to compete for the title of Mr. and Ms. Muscle beach. These men and women work tirelessly on every little muscle in their body to make it proportional and perfect. They are sculptors using flesh instead of clay. What better place than muscle beach, with its rich bodybuilding history backlit by palm trees and the golden sun? It's vibrant, it's showy, it's tan, it's LA.

Sasha Tivetsky is a Los Angeles based photographer and a native. As a first generation Russian American, Sasha continues to keep the traditions of her Russian heritage close. With a BA in photojournalism, her work is rooted in documentary.

Growing up taking the bus around the city with her grandmother, she has only strengthened her curiosity about wandering people, constantly finding connections between moments in her life and the moments of strangers. Her themes center around family, vulnerability, human desire, and female strength. She is currently working in interiors and architectural photography. Concurrently she is building on an ongoing project on her 91 year old grandmother and the Russian Orthodox community in LA.
