Refunds and cancellations
What your fee pays for, and when we give it back.
Last updated 13 September 2026
1.What a submission fee is
A submission fee pays for your work to be received, cataloged and put in front of our jurors and curators. It is a fee for consideration. It is not a purchase of a place in an exhibition, a page in the magazine, or representation by the gallery.
2.We do not refund fees because work was not accepted
Our jurors review every submission, and that review is the thing you have paid for. If your work is not selected, the fee is not returned. This is normal practice for juried exhibitions and we would rather you knew it before you paid than after.
3.When we do refund in full
We return the whole fee, without being asked, if:
- we cancel the exhibition, publication or program you paid for;
- we are unable to review your submission for any reason of our own;
- you were charged twice for the same submission, or charged the wrong amount.
We also refund in full if you change your mind and tell us before review has begun. Write to submissions@larkgallery.com with the email address you submitted under. Once a juror has opened your work, clause 2 applies.
4.If an exhibition is postponed
A postponed show is not a canceled one. Your submission carries over to the new dates and no further fee is due. If the new dates do not suit you, tell us within 30 days of the announcement and we will refund you in full.
5.Annual renewals
Representation renewal fees are charged for a year of representation and are not refundable part-way through that year. We do not charge renewals automatically — you will be asked each year, and doing nothing simply ends the arrangement.
6.How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with. We cannot send them anywhere else. Your bank usually takes five to ten working days to show the money, which is outside our control.
7.Talk to us before your bank
If something has gone wrong, write to submissions@larkgallery.com and we will look at it. We would far rather fix a mistake ourselves than have it come to us through a card dispute weeks later, and you will get your money back sooner.
