I have always possessed a great affinity to nature, thirst for knowledge, and a deep appreciation of beauty in all of its forms. These innate qualities have found expresssion in many areas. In my paintings, I have seen patterns emerge that express harmony, joy, order, and beauty. My belief in the fundamental unity of all cultures and peoples has led me to create art pieces that relflect the depth of our collective souls, the beauty of our beings, and the ability to expand to fully embrace our lives.

I was born and raised in a small city in the northern region of Iran called Rezahyieh. In 1978 I moved to the United States to attend college and received a business degree from California State University Sacramento. I then traveled extensively for several years encountering various cultures in different countries. I developed a feeling of expansion that included all of humanity. While living in Brazil, I was inspired by the European and Brazilian artists I met, so began creating one of a kind garments and bags that were sold through high end boutiques in Los Angeles. While working with fabric dyes on hemp canvas, I shifted my artistic direction towards painting. Over the years, I have experimented with a wide variety of mediums and cherish the discovery of something new. My work has evolved over time, allowing me to switch forms of expression as I feel inclined. My most recent pieces I call Nouveau Surrealism - ordinary printed photos that have been transformed to reflect unseen realms. Over the past four years, I have shown in the Topanga Artist Studio Tour and have participated in numerous shows in various venues around LA. The most recent show was called Down the Rabbit Hole, representing portals into the mysteries within each of us.

My work is politically based and emerges from a place of inspiration and social concerns. I must be inspired by the subject I am compelled to recreate upon canvas. It may be the stance of the person; the color of their skin; the shape of their body or what they are wearing. The best portraits are when the soul of that person emerges from behind his eyes. Even when I paint a tree or a rock, I become one with the object. Whatever it is, when I paint, I become excited, sometimes frustrated and finally satisfied as I see what I have created with the help of my ancestors, long deceased. I believe being an artist involves a social responsibility to incite change, and transform consciousness. It also to bring peace to a troubled soul. I believe if I had started oil painting at 13 instead of 63, I would have been a fashion designer. I love the lines that form the shape of the human body, and the texture of cloth and it's movement upon that body like a human tree fascinates me. When I was young, there were not many images of young, defiant, black women like the ones were described in the poetry of Maya Angelou such as "I'll Rise"...she writes, Does mu haughtiness offend you? .... .You may shoot me with your word, you may cut me with your eyes,, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still, like air, I'll rise. Does my Sexiness upset you? Does it come as a surprise that I danced like I've got diamonds at the meeting of my things." I love my work to be powerful!

I was born in N. Little Rock, Ark in 1938. When I was six years old I moved to New Brunswick, N.J., home of Rutgers University, so college has always been in my blood, but I would not get my degree from Otis College of Art and Design in 2007 until I was 69 years old. I began oil painting when I was about 63 at the El Camino Jr. College. Today I still take classes there. I went started College when I was 19 and but after a few sessions my disease took control of my life. I moved to Los Angeles in 1961, married, lost babies at birth and most of my life was darkness until Jan 4, 1971 when I stopped drinking. I worked as a secretary, and a Medical transcriber in the day time and took every course I loved until even today. When I started oil painting at age 63, I finally matriculated. I applied to Otis College of Art and Design and graduated on the Dean's list in 2007. The great African American artist of LA took me under their wings and invited me join them in many of their exhibits. I have been extremely blessed to know these gifted life-time artist. I am the new kid on the block. I have been in the CA African Art Museum and with many other groups that are well know with great professional artist. I am grateful for their friendship and knowledge. I have been in the exhibit Day of the Dead in Los Angeles and many exhibits.

Ara Shahumyan (Shah) was born in 1978 in Yerevan, Armenia and was trained in the art of painting under the instruction of his father, esteemed and world renown painter, Haghtanak Shahumyan. Ara Shahumyan graduated from the Panos Terlemzyan School of Art in Yerevan, Armenia in 1996, and later went on to attain his masters degree in Fine Arts from the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts in 2002. His journey as an artist has since allowed him to exhibit his paintings and works of art throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.Since 2014 he has been endowed as an Art Expert in painting and graphic arts for the State Expert Centre of Cultural Values National Gallery of Armenia. He has also been commissioned as a resident paint restoration artist by the National Gallery of Armenia since 2016.

I am passionate in my work and would love to eventually sell my art in the US. So far in Australia I have sold over fifty pieces.

I love to paint in water media but often on different surfaces such as polypropylene or watercolor canvas. I try to define special places I have been with bold colors and design. I especially love cityscapes, landscapes and some floral and abstracts work in this regard. I want people to feel the passion of my feelings about the diversity in our world. It is now in the present day that over 50% of the population of the world now resides in cities. With globilization we all come together much more than before. I hope my vision of our world encourages us to see the best about the places we live.

Images that are subliminal appeal to multiple levels of our awareness. The figures in my work speak to your unconscious; rather than representing something literally. Detailed or expressionistic these figures merge with water based mediums, mostly Sumi ink on paper. The work is a way for me to engage directly with my imagination from point zero, inspired by over three decades in the study and teaching of Zen.

Study and practice in meditation and the Japanese sword, and my work with people in hypnosis and NLP (Nero Linguistic Programing) inspires me. Simple moments that wake us up from a different kind of sleep, moments that connect us back into our lives in an empowered way.

A self-taught artist, with artist parents so I was encouraged to paint and draw for as long as I remember, selling my art as early as age 9.

I was hired by Zox Studios, a thriving commercial airbrush studio in the San Fernando Valley while I was still in high school. After graduating in 1972 I continued there until 1976 as head designer, supervising up to twenty other artists. From 1976 to 1984 I became a freelance commercial artist.

I began teaching mindfulness and Zen meditation, and Iaido sword and Aikido around 1984 which greatly influenced my move from illustrative work to the fine arts.

From 1984 I focused solely on Fine Art, working in various mediums: watercolor, oils, pastel, pencil and sumi ink. I have my artists studio and Retreat Center in Warner Springs, CA.

When one is innately creative, it must emerge and thrive eventually in ones life. For me, it manifested itself predominately after having been married for 27 years to my Belgian artist husband and spending hours in his studio. My high school and university studies were definitely only of the cerebral bent. I never even considered taking clothing or set design classes. I have always admired the world of design in high fashion, jewelry and interiors. As a high school teacher of foreign languages, I was asked time and again to display my students’ creations of other countries artistry in the main corridors of the administration offices. Up to this time, I had never actually had a canvas before me. I had never attempted to create an art piece in any of the various mediums.

In my 40’s, I enrolled in a junior college’s Form and Design art class. The professor is a world-famous art professor, Hiroko Yoshimoto. Applying my skills and talents to her excellent teaching and direction, I became the

recipient of that year’s Form and Design/Collage Art Award. After numerous art classes, I began to sell my work.

I live by the adage that one must do something creative every day. My art studio is ablaze in color from acrylics, exotic papers, pastels, broken jewelry, small objets trouves, art books and paintings. Colorful collage/assemblage is my forte. I constantly look for the creative aspects of any item, be it on the ground after a tree is trimmed or a bar-b-que skewer in a kitchen drawer. Elena was born on November 03.1962 in Odessa, Ukraine, on the Black Sea, capital of culture, where famous artists, musicians and authors like the violinist David Oistrakh and the artist Wladimir Strelnikow had their start.

In Odessa, Elena Beresnjak attended Stolyarsky State Music School and gained a degree as a concert pianist from the Odessa High School of Performing & Applied Arts.

While studying Elena discovered her passion for painting and took lessons at the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art. The contemporary artist from Saint Petersburg Ilya Glazunov praised them most profusely after which Elena attended the Academies of Art in Saint Petersburg and Moscow to improve her skills.

In 1985 she won First Prize in a chamber music contest in Kiev, in 1992 she moved to Diekholzen (Germany) to rejoin her husband, the artist and violinist Oleg Zubarev.

While Elena has had many exhibitions of her art in Germany and Russia, her life still is very affected by art and music. So in 2004 she had the great idea not just to paint canvas but also to paint musical instruments. Elena's ten painted violins, violas and cellos, with their distinctive names and evocative musical associations, have already becoming prized collectors' items.

Of course, Elena always insists on time for playing the piano in Oleg and Egmont Heinzmann's salon 10-member Wir Salonloewen, organized "as a contrast to the otherwise usually more serious work in the cultural orchestra".

My new series is much evolved from my previous works. In the past, although I had a feeling of the intangible and of freedom when I worked, my quest was to cull the vivid chaos of color and forms by repeatedly sanding and repainting many layers of paper and paint into a more peaceful, organized surface. It was an expression of the infinite complexities that I found surrounding me, and my desire to tame them.

Rather than being spurred (on) by a categorical statement, I was following an unformed artistic thought through to the end, feeling freedom and energy from spontaneity, the love of form, composition and color and the nostalgia that these energies stimulated. Color, form and composition, and the harmony their combination can elicit, vibrate as a grouping of musical notes might do and touch the nostalgic thinking that first brought such experience into my sights – my musical and artistic family. They were the major creative influence in my life and provided the personal trials of the complex and puzzling world I grew up in.

In my latest series I have taken this need to embrace and contain my memories

a step further. I have develop/nurtured/ my reactions to color and form to

another level. I try to capture what I feel is the essence of my creative experience.

I render my love of form, color and composition down to it’s minimum and

present them in a purer, simpler context – the grid. No less emotionally complex

but perhaps calmer, subtler if a little more intricate and peppered with

a touch of subterfuge…

Helen Berger was born in London, England to Russian émigré parents. It was a family of musicians/painters/singers and she grew up surrounded by these artists, making her sensibilities pretty much pre determined. She has been an artist all her life. After years of family influence and guidance, independent study in Paris, London and Los Angeles, assisting established artists and attending numerous workshops, she considers herself self-taught.

After using many different mediums over the years - wood, paper, clay, found objects, fabric and the camera. – Helen then settled into working with wood, paper and acrylic.

Her previous process was to layer paint, painted and cut paper onto a wood panel, continuing in multiple sanded layers and finishing with a distinct application of paint to emphasize the negative spaces. This work started out as a chaos of color, she challenged herself to recreate a mood of coherence, clarity and harmony on the panel.

Her latest series, although still on wood panel and using vellum, gesso and acrylic, blends the simplicity of repetitive shape with simple color and textural contrasts to create a play between tension and harmony.

Albert Einstein suggested that the tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives. To prevent these kinds of soul sacrifices, I started to paint.

The whole idea of painting abstract images gives my imagination freedom to roam.

I apply a generous amount of paint with brushes that I purchase at the paint store and work in layers adding depth and texture. Textures actually interest me very much and are a big part of my paintings. Some of my canvases have been around for years, getting more and more paint applied, until the perfect picture emerges. I incorporate geometric shapes and lines which create both balance and tension within a painting. Often I use charcoal and pastels as drawing elements.

Art as my religion: it has always been there for me, it never lets me down, is my comfort and my driving passion. My current style of painting, as nearly as I can decipher it, is about letting go. About not being afraid to make a mess. About faith that it will yield something meaningful and good. The southwest desert of our continent is emerging in my work after almost thirty years of living here.

Born in 1958 in Pocatello, Idaho, I moved just before my junior year in high-school to live with relatives in Idaho Falls. This following a chaotic and difficult childhood and adolescence. In 1984 I relocated to Tempe, Arizona by virtue of auditioning for a synthesizer band looking for a vocalist. I\'ve traveled to Europe and Asia. I finished a B.A. in French in 2003; also studied Russian and Arabic languages. I\'ve worked as a cook, a teacher, done construction work..you name it, I\'ve done everything. Almost.

Beginning with water colors I soon moved on to working with acrylics attentive to form, relationships, and modulation of colors. My fascination with human anatomical pleasures, its movement and physiology led me to drawing them as my mind interpreted them. These were

further altered in my painted versions ultimately leading to my own abstractions.

Although I enjoyed the freedom of abstraction, I never left the concepts of precision or intent in any way of my works. I am strongly influenced by the work of graffiti artists, such as Bansky, Xenz, and Allen Dalla. They inspire me because they take risks. There is always the risk in having their works destroyed or painted over. It is the most current trend of Dada and akin to Buddhist sand paintings. I am also inspired by the pop art of Andy Warhol, but more so inspired by his life and the people who surrounded him.

This past year, nine of my large works on canvas were wielded by Heidi Klum for the 2012 season of Germany’s NEXT TOP MODEL. Tresor Productions had also commissioned me to create two more works for that show that is seen internationally.

In the summer of 2012, my work was shown at Harvey's on Beverly with Tony Clark.

In the Fall of 2006 Stacy Bowie, a self-taught artist, revealed “Music set 2 Art” in a solo exhibit at Little Black Pearl in Chicago\'s Hyde Park area. The exhibit highlighted her passion for interpreting songs onto the canvas and featured the \"translations\" of songs of established and emerging recording artists such as Seal, Jill Scott, Carlos Santana, Corinne Bailey Rae, Monday Michiru and others. Recent artwork includes paintings inspired by singers Nyee Moses and Melody Gardot.

Stacy has brought the studio to audiences by painting live to music. She has performed alongside saxophonist Skinny Williams at Hyde Park\'s Park 52; violinist, Lee England, Jr. at Griffin Lounge and with emerging singer, Kenya at Third Friday Gallery in Oak Park, IL. These performances produced the paintings An Evening with Skinny Williams, The Lee England, Jr. Experience respectively and Six Twently-Four titled as such to commemorate the date June 24th the day she and Kenya performed together.

In addition to music she continues to explore the intangible emotions of love, joy and freedom often giving them a \"face\" as in her piece, Pure Exaltaton.

Born in Globe, Arizona, I received an A.A. from Eastern Arizona Jr. College, and went on to earn a B.A. and an M.A. in Art Education at Arizona State University. Some of my influences include Ray Fink, Jasper Johns, Gustave Klimpt, Rauschenberg, and many others.

Using brush and palette knife, Judith creates highly textured and dramatic abstract art, as well as abstract seascapes, melding sea and sky.

Mostly self taught, Judith was influenced by her artist-father, and by years of foreign travels to Europe, Japan, Turkey and Egypt.

I am trying to blend my classical European artistic background with contemporary conceptual approach. Ione's art has shown nationally since 1998 when, after years of world travel, a successful television, radio, theatre and film career in the performing arts, she decided to focus her richly diverse talents on the visual arts.

Ione's artistic expression, creativity, and passion for communication have resulted in numerous awards for her painting, sculpture, mixed media, and assemblage. Her work has also been featured in several important publications. Ione maintains an extensive exhibition schedule in juried, non-juried, and invitational arts venues.

Ione is an avant garde artist whose artistic expression takes fantastic shape through her diverse oil and watercolor paintings, bronze sculptures, found object collages and mixed media assemblages. Her contemporary paintings and sculptures range from abstract to realistic to impressionistic - all visionary interpretations from her imaginative soul.

Ione uses only one name but a variety of styles to soothe her wild imagination. A native of Chicago, she is a former television star and commercial voice-over artist. Now she wins awards and sells her creativity through her hands instead of through her larynx. Her art is as original as she is - bold, colorful and highly decorative.

Art is my biggest teacher.

Stepping into a place of "non-doing" but allowing to happen is the simplest and the hardest thing at the same time.

No question but the painting of Jenik Cook - and hardly less the work she realizes in other media (most notably ceramics) -is abstract-expressionist. But it is not necessarily Abstract Expressionist. That is, however much it may evince the DNA of mid-century American "action painting," or even European counterparts such as tachism, l'art informel, or CoBrA, Cook's art only incidentally revives the method, much less the look, of these bumptious, scrappy art movements. Rather, to power her vision, she goes back to the roots of gestural modernism, finding dancing line, elastic contour, and fervid color in surrealism, in fauvism, in expressionism itself. The painting of Pollock and Kline, and of Fautrier and Jorn, gives Cook permission to work unfettered like this, and gives us the context to comprehend fully - even to empathize kinesthetically with - what she does. But she is not emulating, much less imitating, Afro or James Brooks in her graceful, muscular paintings on paper or rehashing Sam Francis or André Lanskoy with the rhythmic clots and scatterings of pigment that collect on her canvases (well, on a wide variety of more-or-less canvas-like support material). Look instead to Miro, Masson, Marc, or Münter, Pechstein or Picasso, Marcks or Matisse, for Cook's sources.

Indeed, look into Cook's own cultural heritage. The line that whips and loops throughout Cook's oeuvre, whether hurling forms across canvas expanses or tracing them on the sides of pots, whether describing slashing trails of pure pigment or the sinuous contours of human bodies, is no more a painted line than it is a written one. It is made less with the whole body - although one can sense a change of stance, a hip motion, in so many of these dancing whiplashes - than with the whole arm. These gestures issue from the wrist and the shoulder. They are in fact as much inscribed as painted. Their energy is not just telegraphic; it is calligraphic. If the vivacity of the image bespeaks Cook's Armenian blood, the rhapsodic curvaceousness of her line betrays her Iranian childhood. As comfortable speaking and writing Farsi as she is Armenian, Cook marries her disparate cultural sources -which of course now include the western European and American influences of her adult life - into an aesthetically cohesive mix with a surprisingly broad formal reach.

Perhaps the breadth of that reach, given the variety of sources, isn't actually so surprising. But it is always a bit startling to witness - that is, to be allowed to witness - an artist master such a conceptual and expressive range. Most artists have this range in them, but so many suppress it. For her part, however, Cook refuses to suppress her stylistic multivalency. Not only does she not limit her vision, but she uses that vision very consciously to drive her artmaking in as many ways as it needs to go. She may edit, but she does not self-censure. Her style, ultimately as coherent and personal as a signature, emerges from and among her plethora of approaches, approaches which themselves spring from her persistence, her prolific output, her knowledge of art, and her irrepressible verve. Tom Cruz is a Los Angeles based artist with an emphasis in color theory. He is the resident artist and curator at The Lounge Theatre in Hollywood. He has shown artwork from San Diego to San Francisco and as is a part of The Whole 9 Gallery's travelling Peace Project that has gone as far as Chelsea, New York. Thomas has exhibited artwork with such groups as Project Ethos, RAW, A Reason To Survive (A.R.T.S.), The Whole 9 and more.

Thomas has held solo exhibits at McClain Gallery, Cal State University Fullerton, The Lounge Theatre, The Blue Room.

His artwork is owned by such notable collectors as Dr. Nancy Cervantes, PhD. and New York Times Best Selling Author, Christopher Moore.

I do drawings when I make art. I am interested in marks that are expressive of emotional, political, and historical meaning. I ike to play on form, composition, and light. The drawings I would submit to this competitiion are enormous- three to four feet wide and in some cases over eight feet tall. They are so large that the marks in their making can no no longer be precious. They become gestural, quick, and rough. I am trying to capture the ellusive nature of the inelluctable light that falls on any reality whether that light is the true light as filtered through the atmosphere, the eye, the attitude, or the history book.

Exhibited in downtown Los Angeles at AAA art Gallery, Exile, and the Downtown lives shows for several years. For 6 years- 1980 -1986, ran the Art Dock, the drive-by art gallery in downtown Los Angeles, about which I am currently writing a book. I have worked in colaboration with other artists including Pamela Burgess on the Los Angeles Mission and James Doolin on the North Hollywood Subway Station. My current book \\\"bipolar bare\\\" is a memoir of my life\\\'s journey with mental disorder and is filled with 32 illustration by me, including self-portraits, one of my enormous drawings, and other sketches. I have written for several art journals including Coagula. I consider myself to be a renaissance man in the 21st Century.

I was born in Moscow in city of culture. This is where I began looking at life from a perspective that most of us see only momentarily, and just a few are able to record. The validity surrounding me has made me such what I became now.

My love to art grew and filled each part of my consciousness. I became sensitive, susceptible, attentive to details. It concerns not only works of art, but also a life as a whole.

People with which I communicate now understand and support me. And I aspire to inform to them and to all associates that is stored in my heart. That is born in my soul.

Since 2008 I have created children\'s art studio.

I often go downtown. In my roamings around the city center, I encounter the homeless -- those weakest of the weak, our littlest brothers and sisters. For some ineffable reason, they attract me. I wonder about the subjectivity hidden beneath the battered exterior, about the human enigma each of these people represents. My interest in them is visual and philosophical. By painting them, I enter in an interpersonal relationship with them. I am amazed by the resilience these people radiate even from the abyss of misery.

A native of Bulgaria, Rossitza Djananova graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has painted ever since. In addition to painting, Ms. Djananova's artistic explorations include icon painting and monumental genres like mosaic and frescoes. While Ms. Djananova is grounded in the clasical realist tradition, her influences also include the bolder brushwork of German Expressionism and the post-Impressionistic impulse toward stylization and abstration for a idiosyncratic, unique mode of expression. Artist statement-Basis of my Artistic Creativity

In foundation of my artistic creativity is lying absolute relationship between forms, objects, creatures, time, action, events and expanses in preserving individuality in all of them.

At the same time existences of differences and unity, forms and emptiness, where is there connections, developing in to two aspects of one reality, existing unambiguous in the whirlwind of relationships without beginning and eternity motions.

The Artist must be striving to The Greatest Heights, to the High-altitude, to the Divine! And if he achieve that, than he indefinitely will get The Blessing from the Haven, and by that he will be able to broaden his frames to the infinity by implementation the endless in the total end; transforming the ending in to the vessel for the infinity; temporary-in to transmitter of eternity in grasping intuitional stream of movements right in to the deep, in meaning to the High-altitude to the Absolute Reality.

Hear, and only hear, where the Ocean is merging in to the one drop-emerging the true creation.

Artistic creativity-it is where the inner vision of freedom from arbitrary rules, where Divine, Spiritual, boundless are pouring into the inner of artist vision, where supernatural reality reflects on human consciousness.

I WAS BORN IN ONE OF THE UNIC, MISTICAL, ENIGMATICAL PLACE ON THE EARTH- IT’S Called Far East of Russia. Very long time ago it was very powerful, strong kingdom called Balhae.

The earliest extant recorded mention of Balhae comes from the Old Book of Tang, which was compiled between 941 to 945.The 13th century census of Northern China by the Mongols distinguished Balhae from other ethnic groups such as Goryeo, Khitan and Jurchen. Most descendants of Balhae are today in China.

Siberia and the Russian Far East are home to some of the most profoundly beautiful wilderness areas left on earth. Russia's diverse landscapes support incredible biodiversity, including one-fifth of the world's forests, and endangered species such as the Amur leopard, Siberian tiger, and Western Pacific Gray Whale. Lake Baikal alone holds 20 percent of the world's unfrozen fresh water, and it is the oldest and deepest lake in the world. Japan Sea with their magical flying islands. All of this quickly woke up my imagination as early as four years old and gave me the strongest impulse to create art.

Visual artist and poet Ruth Dutoit was born in 1925, the eighth of ten children in the coal mining region of southwestern Virginia. She received her B.A. at the University of Miami, Florida (1948) and her Master of Arts Degree from New York University’s School of Education (1955). While pursing her passion for academics, she also took a profound interest in the diversity of people and love of the earth, leading her to worldwide travels and studies. She completed her arts education by attending master classes at the Art Students League of New York City. From 1955 to 1956 she studied privately with Amedée Ozenfant in Cannes, and attended classes at the École des Beaux Arts of Aix-en-Provence, France.

Ruth then spent several decades in Switzerland, after getting married there 1959. Ruth exhibited in numerous European countries and developed a long standing relationship with the prestigious Jeanne Wiebenga Gallery near Lausanne, Switzerland. She also wrote and published poetry in English and French, illustrated with her ink portraits in black and white. In the early 1990s, Ruth moved back to the United States where she continued to experiment with various art forms in Washington DC. She continued to travel internationally, tapping into various cultures that influenced her vision and paintings. Ruth lived in Round Hill, Virginia in early 2000, where she pushed the envelope of her creations, before moving to Southern California in 2005 where she currently resides and works.

Now 84, Ruth continues to bring her vision to the forefront of the art world, bridging the gap between traditional art and multimedia. From the beginning, Ruth’s interest have had one underlying theme: Changing Perceptions for Changing Times. Ruth says “the more you learn, the more you keep your mind and spirit open, the more your life will be free flowing and in sync. Each moment is just another milestone in the unfolding of one‘s destiny. Perception, whether it be visual or otherwise, can only take place when there is no division between the observer and the observed. In retrospect -- everyday, every moment is a new beginning. Just my cup of tea!\"

To return. To advance. To find the perfect cadence and dance. To redefine landscape and question Nature as a final container. To balance the Seen and the Unseen. To reveal and to disappear. Oils are worked, beaded and interwoven. The message is to locate oneself and in doing so through the process of a journey.

Over the last few years I have been seriously ill with diabetes which prompted weight gain that landed me in a wheelchair. I have been struggling with it for years, though now ambulatory and strong enough to consider re-entering into the world so to speak and attempting to launch a career in art.

My name is Joaquin Federico Elizalde. I was born on October 8, 1967 to one of the most prominent families in the Philippines (we're on Wikipedia - just look up "Elizalde Family"). I was born in Manila, attended international school until the ninth grade. Subsequently, I attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and graduated from Gstaad International School in Switzerland. I then went on to Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire and Maryland Institute of Art. I never finished and went into business instead in which I was unsuccessful. Recently I have returned to my first love - art and decided to donate 100 percent of my proceeds from art sales to FoodForward.org organization that fights hunger and prevents food waste.

I understand art as a way of emotionally experiencing reality and a universal language of

communication.

Without conscious e?ort and thought, I try to fill my paintings with expressions strong

enough to let the spectator feel the energy put in the depth of the canvas, transforming the

perception of picture into his own art act.

Most recently, I find myself inspired to focus on developing and exploring the connection

between iconography and abstraction in light of Cosmism philosophy. The inspiration of

this uniquely blended style came about as briefly explained in the following.

I believe that abstract painting was and still is an artist’s attempt at capturing and

expressing Plato's world of ideas which is invisible to the earthly eyes. Then, at the

beginning of the 20th century came the avant-gardism of Filonov and Malevich which was a

rebellion against physicality, materialism and petty-bourgeois consumption.

Iconography takes its roots from the symbiosis of antique vivid imagery and spiritual

practices of Ancient Egypt. From ancient times to the present day, man has never stopped

asking himself questions about who he is and what his true role in this world is.

My newfound unique style of blending iconography and abstract painting is somehow an

endeavour to continue humanity’s perennial e?ort and desire to capture and express the

depth of the invisible world via visible materials, to have a glimpse of the heavenly realm via

earthly instruments, akin to Plato and Malevich’s line of thinking.

In my work, I try to find an image of the elusive other shore - where every soul aspires to go -

and trying to find artful means to communicate what is di?icult to express in words.

ELIZAVETA DAJOSE (Artist Name: Elize)

Elize daJose is a professional artist, sculptor, iconographer and illustrator.

Her artworks primarily consist of a unique blend of abstract art and icon painting, experimenting with various materials, although her favorite media remain acrylic painting and ceramics.

Born in Moscow, Russia, her life as an artist started at a very young age. One day on a snowy street in her hometown, she bought Kazimir Malevich’s book from a peddler which turned her consciousness upside down and defined her entire life path.

From 1996 to 2000, she religiously undertook painting, sculpture, and graphics in various workshops of Moscow artists.

Since 2001, she has been working in the creative workshops of the Babushkinsky Sculpture Combine and in 2002, she became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists, sculpture section.

From 2002 to 2010, she actively participated in group exhibitions at the Central House of Artists, Gallery on Kuznetsky Most, Darwin Museum, and Timiryazev Museum.

In 2010, she participated in the Annual Art Juried Competition in Los Angeles, CA, and became a laureate.

In 2011, she took part in the collective exhibition "Woman Day Art Exhibits" at the Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles, CA, and in 2012 she had a solo exhibition "Three Artists" at Liz Loft Gallery, LA, CA.

In 2016, Elize moved to California and actively participated in collective exhibitions, including the "Summer Exhibit" at Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa Monica (2016), "Brain Art Event" at Lark Gallery/The Chiari Project in West Hollywood (2017), and "The Art of Transformation" at Brick & Mortar Loiter Galleries in Long Beach (2023), among many others.

In 2025, Elize was awarded the Silver Medal at the New York International Art Juried Competition, "The Light from the Other Shore."

In 2026, an essay featuring Elize's creativity and spiritual development was published in the book "Revelations of the Artist - Deep Calls to Deep", curated by ArtServe International.

Elize is an active member of the Los Angeles Art Association and Riverside Community Arts Association. She is currently represented by Lark Gallery in West Hollywood and Literary Engineers, LLC in Benicia, CA.

I am a primarily a sculptor working in varied media. A painter, a curator, an educator, and builder of large architectural/environmental landscape works formed out of rock, metal, often megalithic in size. My work continues to evolve through the exploration of new media. The use of clay to captivate me, serving as an extension of my imago mundi.

DIANA FERNÁNDEZ VASQUEZ STATEMENT

It is for me to recognize what can be unearthed: to reveal what magnificence of light and colors of form discover the sensuality that lies within. With a courage gained through experience, I can break into these alabaster stones, revealing their secrets subdued, cloaked in the dusts of our Planet evolution, which is why I love stone sculpture.

And my bronze sculptures are also a summary for the concept of art responsibility because are very durable, able to withstand the elements for many years when properly prepared. Finally, the ability to use corrosive materials to create a patina allows to create a vibrant coating, because bronze is an incredibly important historical art medium for sustainable sculpture.

To develop cosmic visions in fiberglass, is to create new visions of outer space with inner material, that is why in fiberglass I developed Red Moons and many other possibilities and much more that sculpturally merge with color and shape in a different way of my other sculptures in alabaster and bronze, which also represent the universal experiences that surround us.

DIANA FERNÁNDEZ SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Diana Fernandez is a recognized Guatemalan sculptor with 420 national and international exhibitions and 60 solo shows. The International Sculpture Center said she revitalizes alabaster with a contemporary language. She received the National School of Arts Unique Sculptor Award and the Guatemala Biennial Honorable Mention also the Tribute to her Sculptural Work by FUNSILEC, 2016. Also awarded with the Goya Award at the Barcelona Biennial in Spain and the Caravaggio International Award Experience in Rome, Italy. Additionally her sculptures appeared in the Euroairport Mega Screen in Basel, Switzerland. Curator Vittorio Sgarbi recognized her with the Milan International Art Award and many more International awards. Rusted doors and peeling paint are magnified and high- lighted to the point where we begin to see them in a whole new light. Old becomes new, defunct becomes living, and rather than function, it is \"form\" that becomes the purpose of these inanimate subjects and their expired registrations

Biography

Erik Fischer, born in historic Aachen, Germany is a former private chef turned photographer. He used to refer to himself as the "chef in exile" while working and traveling the world for various influential families.

Fischer studied art history and drawing, yet at age 16 decided to pursue the culinary arts which led him to Los Angeles and then New York. With his camera as a constant companion, he captured landscapes all over the world while maintaining up to 15 hour work days.

After 24 years in the food industry he decided to hang up his chef's coat and pick up the camera full time. He found that while food is created and consumed immediately , a picture lasts a lifetime. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA and continues to travel the world, collecting photographs for various projects.

Olaf Folta, born and raised in Germany, is a traditionally trained oil painter in the style of modern realism. He studied Fine Art Figurative Painting at the Academy of Art in San Francisco after his relocation to the United States and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Since his studies Olaf has adopted a more contemporary mixed media approach to his work, which allows for better expression of his ideas. His most recent body of work 'Modern Alchemy' is part of his Consumer Art Series: A collection of collages, created from consumer products, is a commentary on modern man in the 21st century, and his psychological and sociological process.

I love to do watercolor, oil and ceramics. I paint from my head, and mostly everything that is good comes out by accident. I enjoy the color's more than the drawing.

My photographic collages are layers of my reflections and observations, being personal, political or historical.

Like our life experiences, these thoughts accumulate on top of each other, to create my feelings and emotions that get expressed in the artwork.

The layering process coincides with the synthesis of creating visual pieces that invites one to investigate and explore the given information.

Like in previous works of mine, made on glass, the technique and the transparencies in my photographic digital collages are an important part of the art, they emphasis the build-up process and the blending which creates the images.

Vered Galor has been involved with the fine art world as an artist, curator and educator for over thirty years. She received her BA and MA in Fine Art from California State University in Northridge in 1975 and 1978.

Mrs. Galor started her career as glass sculptor. In 1981 she established a business doing curatorial projects and consulting in Contemporary Fine Art.

She lectured, participated in discussions and wrote art programs to encourage the collaboration of Art and Architecture.

Since 1989 Mrs. Galor has been concentrating on photography. She has been creating here own work, teaching photography and showing with galleries in Los Angeles California, Fort Collins and Loveland, Colorado and Las Vegas Nevada.

Dave Gardner has enjoyed recycling objects and materials his entire life. Always one to see potential in discarded, underused, or uncared for items, this also is projected in his outlook for life. He just takes things and makes them better. All of his artwork incorporates items, and reuses them a second or third time around.

Dave also sees this in the people that surround hin. He is positive, and is always looking for the inner personalities of those he includes in his inner circles.

While Dave takes great pride in creating new objects of art from recycling, he also is fascinated by close up photography, and creating balanced and striking prints from shat we normally just pass by.

Ariyana is an interdisciplinary visionary artist who paints, writes, and creates sculptures & assemblages. During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Ariyana was an artist in residence in San Diego City Schools for seven years. She pioneered what she calls Eco-Peace Walls. Painting murals for about five years, these art and word murals had images and messages about global harmony, ecological sustainability, and universal friendship. This art series and her work with students was very well received and written about in the LA Times, San Diego Union, Whole Life Times, KPBS On Air Magazine, Better World Magazine and other publications. Her art has also been featured on the front cover of three publications. One of her murals in Santa Monica was commissioned by the California trendsetter Fred Segal. Nissan Motors commissioned a series of 12 drawings for a 1995 calendar which was distributed to Nissan customers in Asia. She has also worked with the United Nations Environmental Art Program (UNEP).

In October 1994, 20 years of art was lost in a fire that burned her home and studio to the ground. After this tragedy she became an artist in recluse. She returned to painting, writing, designing, yoga, and meditation. These activities helped heal the trauma of tragic impermanence and broken dreams.

Her current art work is a series of acrylic and mixed media paintings, stone sculptures, and mixed media assemblages. Mystical landscapes and Stone Spirits are the themes that she creates through a unique combination of paint, crystals, feathers, black coral, and other found objects gathered over a period of many years. Ariyana is also working on a series of mixed media works where the components came from her own fire side debris and from the Station Fire.

Ariyana sees beauty in everything. This ability fuels her love for mixed media, the art form that she has focused on. She has worked directly on the Earth creating Earth Art, and now she works on a variety of different textures, painted styrofoam, canvas, wood, and handmade papers.

For her, mixed media is like gathering the beauty and wisdom from different cultures, nations and traditions, bringing them together in one place where they meet and intersect in a harmonious way, creating something new, like the fusion of East and West or the combination of the ancient with the modern.

I have always enjoyed the creative process. In addition to being a means of expression and a source of great enjoyment, art is a means of healing ourselves and facilitating the healing in others. I have worked in a variety of media, including printmaking, pen and ink, colored pencils and markers, watercolors, acrylics and oils. My favorite themes include Judaica, landscapes, leaves and doves. I also enjoy exploring the abstract.

Debora Gillman has studied art at UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, Otis and Los Angeles City College.

Exhibits include a group show in the Adult Education Division of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; individual and group shows at Park La Brea, including their annual “Art in the Park” events,where she has contributed a variety of award winning banner art and Tower Art designs. Other venues include The American Museum of Science & Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; the Don O'Melveny Gallery, Los Angeles and The JAN Gallery, Los Angeles. Her work is also part of the permanent collection at Cedars Sinai, Los Angeles.

Debora has taught workshops for children and adults at Park La Brea and the Craft and Folk Art Museum. She has also coordinated and help put on numerous local community events. “Debi Doodles” is her popular coloring book creation for kids for the holidays as well as other themes. Debora has written and illustrated three books for young readers: THE PAINTER'S DREAM; DRAWING FROM THE MASTERS; and AN UN-BEAR-ABE SITUATION: BEARS AND THE ENVIRONMENT. She co-wrote and co-illustrated the third book with her mother, Miriam Gillman, who is also an artist/writer. Debora thanks her mother for "sharing her creative gene with her." Lucian Gribkov (1922 – 1976) lived and created in Moscow. His personal exhibition in Moscow in 1979 was closed by the government as dissident (non-conformist) art. He also participated in non-conformist Tagansky, Manezhny and Abaramtsevsky art exhibitions.

I was first introduced to art while I was still in the womb. My Mother developed a ”sudden craving” to paint in her last month of pregnancy. Maybe it was the aroma that sparked my interest. When I was five, my Grandpa encouraged me by having me paint enough pieces to fill a wall for my ”first exhibit.” My entire family then gathered together to preview my collection and hear my stories about each painting. It was a rewarding and fulfilling experience and solidified my interest in the arts.

For me, art has always been a way to express my emotions. My style of painting does not represent my formal art education, but is inspired by the children I teach. With their youthful enthusiasm and creative minds, objects are seen and painted in a whole different light. And, when you learn to ”open your imagination” to colors, lights, textures and shapes, you will be able to put your thoughts on canvas in a brilliant way.

I process song as a color, music that translates into brilliantly colorful paintings what is sharing the same story. I am painting what i hear, feel, sense...

I have lived in the Desert region, the foothills of the High Sierra, and on the Pacific Coast. I have learned to love the beauty of each environments. I equally enjoy painting the woods and waterfalls, the ever changing scenery of the desert, but most of all the endles variety of peoples of the beach communities on the Pacific Coast. Through imagination, the paintings I create to evoke the strength and generosity of nature. With this very personal emotion, I hope to open the viewer eyes to the poetic beauty of the world around us.

Born in Budapest (the Buda side), Hungary. Raised and lived in Budapest until 1956 November. Came to United States in 1957 January 1st.. Settled in South California in 1960. Having a life long passion for art, I started taking some courses in fine art, studied with: Frank Turriello, Darwin Duncan, Sergey Bongard, Earl Daniel to name a few. I have found and participated in some art group activities, and art shows. I have received numerous awards, generated portrait commissions, sold a number of paintings to private collectors, in the United States and Hungary. Fortunately all my job involved different types of illustrations, and other commercial art where I gained a wealth of experience in all media.

Working Artist Statement: Ceylan Hulya M.A.

My paintings recently have been wanderings into time, place, and gathering with people of the unknown world. The more I trust the unknown, the more I experience an alignment with my being. I see my daily art-making practices as an answer to my soul?s call. I see my paintings meditation in motion. I work on large canvas mainly with acrylic paint, and mixed media. I feel the freedom, joy, and playfulness while I am in the moment-to-moment action with my whole body applying the paint over and over in a daydream state.

I believe in the power of objects. I intuitively collect objects until the object tells me what to do next. I listen to the story embedded in each object as I put an installation together. I work with memory, remembrance, my relationship with my mother, focusing mainly on my matrilineage for the sourcing of my core being, my message. I like to create solitary spaces through my on-going altars in memory of loved ones. I mean to create a balance between my inner knowing self and my outer self. My artwork is all about the process, the links, the connections, and our collective knowledge. I tap the larger reality through my personal discoveries while art making informs me about myself.

I make art because I have to. Art making keeps me aligned and balanced. Art making is my breathing space. Art is my way to balance the inner needs with the outer needs. Ceylan Huyla is an award wining Artist and Educator. She co-founded a new paradigm Arts & Consciousness Center in Malibu, Art 4 All People LLC in 2012. She is a Turkish entrepreneur and an international transformative artist whose works include installation, painting, performance, and video-art.

Narine Isajanyan was born in Armenian and began drawing and painting at the age of five. During her childhood she visited many museums and galleries in Armenian and St. Petersburg, as well as receiving training in music and dance. In college she continued her training in art and received a Bachelors degree in 1987 from the College of Architecture in Yerevan. She moved to Moscow to study at the Moscow Architectural Institute but found Soviet regulations with architecture too restrictive and sought more freedom to express her ideas through her art. She returned to Armenian and studied art with Manvel Bagdasaryan and Samvel Bagdasaryan and later received a Masters degree in Fine Arts from the Yerevan University of Art and Theater. She first started exhibiting her art in 1990 in Armenia and has participated in numerous shows in Moscow, Beruit, Abu Dhabi, Croatia and Belgium. She came to the United States in 1998 when she was invited to participate in an art exhibition and since then has exhibited her paintings at many galleries in the Los Angeles area.

Inspired by the impressionist painter Monet, Narine's work is expressionist, minimalist and conceptual by turns. Whether on canvas, paper, board, wood or actually made of metal, her pieces become abstract landscapes that are as fluid within as they are consistent and organic as a whole.

About her art, Narine says, "When I paint, I feel like I am flying and dancing; I hear music in my mind. Through my art I want to express the freedom I feel in my soul."

George Jacob, a self taught artist, brings to the art world his own authentic and avant-garde style.

My work is inspired by the natural world. Travels abroad and within the U.S. are reflected in my paintings of landscapes and florals. Using acrylics, I begin my preparation with various gels to achieve a textured ground on canvas, board, and paper. Pouring on mylar, using various papers dipped inn paint, and incorporating collage produce hidden surprises that move me forward. I love to experiment with different tools, brushstrokes, palettes, techniques to create atmosphere, illuminate sunsets & reflections on water, sunlight on mountain tops, and trees changing with the seasons.

My art is a work in progress, a joyful and challenging journey that has opened exciting vistas. As a painter, my lifetime goal is to release my inner spirit, be in the present, develop patience, & create from my heart.

Alli began her art journey in 2010 after retiring from a 35 year career in education, teaching high school in LAUSD and BHUSD, California.

She studied watercolor and acrylic in a small group setting with artist Ilana Bloch, in her private studio in Culver City, CA, 2010-2017.

Alli continued her art education completing live model drawing classes at Emeritus College, Santa Monica, CA, 2014-2016.

She studied abstract painting at Otis College of Art & Design, Continuing Education Department, Westchester, CA, 2016-2018.

Alli was accepted into small group, private painting classes with her Otis instructor Linda Jacobson, who has remained her mentor until the present.

As Proust wrote: “Photography achieves singular images even out of something otherwise well-known, images different from those we are used to seeing, singular and authentic.”

Light is my way of showing the strange within the familiar—unusual illumination, bizarre distortion. As one who grew up in a gray industrial city, I’m especially drawn to yellows and oranges—colors that project warmth, that create contrast, that show us how every-day images can be shown with a luminescent and singular beauty.

I have been a practicing fine-arts photographer in Long Beach since 1995. My work tends to fall into one of four different categories: candid portraiture (especially of my fellow jazz musicians), night photography, floral photography and architectural photography. I work in both color and black and white. I also have a good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop such that I can now do anything I want with a basic image, including the creation of composite images of individual and bands.

I have been shooting the architectural sights of Long Beach and Los Angeles for ten years now. I am attracted by unusual buildings. I shoot them but not as a documentarian. I look for strange details that jump out at me and beg to be photographed. I’m especially taken by reflections on the sides of glass buildings—I love the distortion in these images.

Ron Javorsky was born and raised in Cleveland, a gray industrial city whose average of 250 cloudy days per year really teaches you to appreciate light. As a photographer in southern California, he is therefore like a kid in a candy store.

He learned photography professionally in a commercial portrait and product studio in Cleveland. After one year on the job, he moved to San Francisco where he took time out from photography to learn jazz bass. The Safe House show in Long Beach’s Lafayette Building (1998) reintroduced him to fine-art photography.

Among his specialties are night photography, floral photos, architectural shoots and catching his fellow jazz musicians in the act of doing what they do best.

The truest means of expressing the real is to accept the process of discovery. To experience the process, rather than perfecting a formula, will come closer to making a drawing or painting believable.

The horse race has been a reoccurring theme in my work. It represents strength, energy, and motion as well as the bond between man and horse. Ancient symbolic meaning is another aspect that is present. The communication between horse and jockey reveals that aspect in a very long two minute space of time.

Originally from Russia Oleg Khoroshev lives and works in Los Angeles as a professional photographer. He has 12 years experience in photography. He has worked with well-known advertising agencies such as: BBDO, McCann Erickson, Publicis United providing photography work for brands such as: Coca-Cola, Nestle Ice Cream, Nescafe, Exxon Mobile, Clearasil, Kotex, Burn, Timotei, and many others. Oleg's photographs have also graced the covers of more than 25 famous magazines and have been used in various editorial photographs.

The Inspiration -

In 1998, while pursuing a doctorate in (which I received in 1999), I created a completely original CD-ROM entitled From Stoneage to Rock. It became my all-consuming passion for the summer. After a performing and recording career as a classical concert pianist for twenty-five years, I was excited to discover I could express complicated and interdisciplinary ideas on a multitude of levels simultaneously. The computer became my keyboard, camera, and paintbrush. Most significantly, I experienced a profound joy in creating “something from nothing” while combining my instincts as a musical and visual artist with the sophistication of “cutting edge” technology.

Since then I have become intensely interested in discovering the point at which an idea becomes an inspiration, an “entity unto itself.”

As a pianist, I worked with someone else’s creation. I viewed the printed page as the composer’s shorthand to his or her thoughts and feelings, comparable to a “figured bass” in Baroque music, which provides numerals below a bass line to indicate the harmonies and melodic movement above. The composer’s intentions (and feelings) can never completely be notated musically. There does not exist a symbology comprehensive enough to do so, nor a page large enough (without being impractical or absurd) to accommodate all the additional markings required to express every nuance of his or her concept and emotion. As a visual artist, I therefore look upon my work as a “re-composition” or a sophisticated and complex improvisation of the nature’s “figured bass.”

One of my favorite composers is Johann Sebastian Bach. He worked with traditional Baroque forms such as the fugue and variation, synthesizing these compositional styles already in use, rather than developing new ones. His genius not only perfected these forms but also transcended them, making each work an innovation of both form and style. The key to his creations was in the simultaneous overlapping of musical ideas, often disparate in rhythm and melody, creating exciting cohesive and beautiful musical gems.

Three modern-ear artists have influenced me and demonstrate an artist expression similar to Bach’s. Each of the artists, Escher, Durer and Van Gogh, worked within the conventions of art – respectively using pen and ink, watercolors and oils – yet each transcend the implied boundaries of their media by creating innovative forms and styles. Escher used perspective to explore and “prove” how two-dimensional relationships can appear as three. Durer, the Renaissance painter and engraver, also had the ability to draw the viewer into the picture and believe in its reality, sensitively using the techniques of perspective, detail, color, and texture to create an overall sense of photographic realism. Van Gogh used color and gesture to enunciate his experiments with spatial relationships and rendered them on a two-dimensional plane.

Lina was born in Kiev, Ukraine, where she graduated from the School of Visual Arts. She has always strived to find balance between her passion for arts and interest in technology. In 2000 she obtained a

masters degree in computer science with a specialization in multimedia and creative technologies from USC, and now enjoys a successful career in software engineering. Lina has pursued her interest in visual art and has studied ceramics and sculpture in Los Angeles since 1996.

Linas clay and mixed media creations have been very well received in exhibitions at the Orlando Gallery, The Style Lounge, Pacific Design Center, VIVA Art Center, American Museum of Ceramic Art, Xiem Gallery, Red Dot Gallery in Palm Springs, Neutra Museum in Silver Lake. My art is imagination of created things which do not exist in everyday life. The purpose of my life - is creation of the fantasies. I was always attracted to science fiction books and movies. I put my images of my fantasy’s creatures in paintings and sculptures.

Faina Kumpan was moved from Odessa, Ukraine as a political refugee. She graduated from the Theatrical Art College in Odessa. In her not very exciting childhood, she was dreaming of other worlds. She was obsessed with science fiction.

Her emigration to New York opens the new opportunities. She worked as a designer and changed a lot of different professions. After moving to LA she returned to her love for art and Science Fiction. She attended numerous classes at UCLA Extension and many private workshops. She exhibited in many important galleries in LA and NY. She creates a fantasy world that is a once surreal and abstract, whimsical and vibrant. Whether creating painting or sculptures, her subjects are mystical creatures from another world, like fantastic figures stepping out of the pages of the futuristic fairy tale. She was participating in many group exhibitions.

She was awarded as a creative artist by City of LA for working together to celebrate Los Angeles as Creative Capital of the world. Her works are in many private collections.

My art, whether abstract, figurative, or combinations of both, explores dimensional vibrations through the use of line, color, symbolism, and form. Geometry, particle physics, holonomic brain theory, mythology, and Jung's theories of synchronicity and the collective unconscious all inform my work.

Perceiving the concepts contained in the above theories, I strive to reveal the deeper dimensions and innate spirituality that exist in the here and now of every moment.

Influences include the latest fantastical discoveries of particle physics, synchronicity, superstring, holonomic brain and biotic theory, and Taoism. Authors as diverse as Gary Zukov, Brian Greene, Daniel Goleman, Carlos Castenada, Aldous Huxley, Joseph Campbell, William Blake, and Carl Jung have influenced my perception and vision.

My art name is Lark - the bird that lingers between the earth and the sky. We artists do it at the moment of inspiration and meditation. That's how I create my art. I meditate and start with the spontaneous movements of my instruments; usually it is not a brush. A brush makes me think. My instruments are usually just pieces of cardboard. I also paint on any surface – canvas, board, plexiglass, glass, wood, etc – and I love to experiment and see what happens. My best creations take place in a state of no mind.

Although I begin the way abstract expressionists do and use some sumi-e techniques, eventually most of my creation starts shaping as abstract or impressionistic landscapes as ocean, sky, trees, flowers and mountain views start appearing from the formless. Nature is my source of inspiration, but instead of landscape details I channel nature's moods, the feeling of being one with nature, and swimming in its atmospheric light.

Light is what drives me to continue working. My mission is always to bring more light to people around me with my art, poetry and meditations. I know that viewers feel joy, peace and harmony when they look at my work, enter and settle inside it because it heals their emotional wounds and it makes me happy. Being an artist is an opportunity to express the fountain of my creative energy and at the same time serve people's needs in beauty that will heal the world.

When people perceive the light, the high and playful energy that my paintings emanate, they start feeling they are back in the fairy-tale world of their childhood, when their soul was open to transformations and miracles, and they feel like Alice in her enchanting wonderland.

I do not start out to produce art about one subject or another. My abstract paintings mostly involve what color I am feeling at the moment, and normally, I have a whole set off metallics and fleuroscents at my fingertips.

Whatever music I am listening to at the moment I paint has a direct influence on what images I create. Since I have such a variety of tunes, and a painting is never created in a day, the abstractness can change daily, as my mood does, as the songs do, so I am not in total control of the finished painting until I feel like I do not have to keep adding or subtracting to it.

While the paint is drying, and I keep surveying,I know when what I want it to say, it says. And whatever that is, is also up to the viewer to see what they want to see.

Art has always been my passion, and I lifted my first paint brush at age 2.

When I paint, my imagination is free, which provides many opportunities for happy accidents, and whatever direction I thought I was heading in one moment can change, and influence what my paintings final color moments and shapes become.

I have a degree in fashion design, and have taken art classes since I was 2.

My eyes see the world formed by shape, color, line and contrasts. The details of reality are nearly beside the point, only that they contribute to the entire. I see forms dominating my environment as one might experience the blur from unfocused eyes. An anecdote may explain it best. Recently, I was driving along a very curvy road beside a hill, and came upon a design in the road: tire tracks going off at a diagonal, toward the hillside. It wasn’t until several minutes later when, still driving along, I felt my brain catch up with my eyes and was shocked to realize the implications of the dark parallel lines angled against the center line. Reality had escaped me.

Still, my unmanipulated digital photographs capture the real. Suggesting mystery within the reality is what inspires me. Representing facts on one hand, and enigmas on the other, the forms take me where they will.

Catherine Roberts Leach was born in New York City and currently lives in California. She is a self-taught, fine art photographer focusing on above and below, mood and mystery. Her images have been exhibited at the Los Angeles International Airport, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Art Rental and Sales Gallery, the Los Angeles Art Association/Gallery825, and through juried exhibitions online, and at galleries in New York, California, Texas, Oregon, Washington DC, Georgia, Connecticut, Virginia, and Missouri.

Although primarily an abstract artist, her war protest photograph, “Imagine,” appeared on the front page of ImaginePeace.com, a website of Yoko Ono’s, at Ms. Ono’s invitation in 2008. Catherine’s images have won numerous international art awards, and have been published in the juried 2009 Artist Catalog, Los Angeles Art Association, The World’s Best Black & White Photography, 2008 (Black & White Spider Awards), and Best of Photography Annual 2004, Photographer’s Forum Magazine.

Among the jurors and curators selecting her work for exhibition include artist Chris Burden, gallerist Craig Krull, and curators Scott Canty and Mark Steven Greenfield of the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Sarah Bancroft of the Orange County Museum of Art, and Samuel Hoi, President of the Otis College of Art and Design.

Anastasia Lebedeva comes from a family of experimental artists, she has been trained in classical schools of art since a very early age and exposed to a wonderful and eclectic collection of art and artists since birth. Anastasia also goes by the name Simrit Kaur and has been KRI certified to teach Kundalini yoga since 2007 and Prenatal Kundalini Yoga since 2008. The quality of the mental state that meditation brings influences her ethos greatly as she aims to translate that bliss into art that radiates the same. The aesthetic of her paintings is always to uplift both the space it is in as well as the viewer.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My mission is to create paintings that are uplifting for the viewer and for myself. A strong element throughout my work is light – both physically and spiritually – through a combination of realism and abstraction. I try to capture a sense of spontaneity and tranquility or movement, energy and exhilaration through the interaction of colors and shapes. To that end, I often use bright, bold colors or soft pastels. I like to work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense “create itself” with myself as the conduit to the visual message. So it is therefore more about flow than form. Though I’ve worked with oils and watercolors, my favorite medium is acrylics.

There is no right way to interpret my art. My hope is that it is uplifting for the viewer. Ultimately my art is an invitation “to dream.”

Valerie Leri

I graduated from U-Mass, Amherst with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in 1982 and I’ve been painting ever since. I have taken various classes over the years to learn and grow in my chosen profession. Living on Cape Cod, I am inspired by the ocean, beaches, ponds, marshes and beautiful fields and forests that surround me. I have been interviewed and my work has been shown Cape Cod Home Magazine. I have won awards for some of my paintings from online galleries, such as Contemporary Art Gallery Online and others. My work can be viewed in various Cape Cod galleries, many online galleries, retail shops and arts organizations on Cape Cod and private collections on Cape Cod and throughout New England.

I spent my professional career as a scientist and science educator. After moving to California, I studied painting and developed an interest in digital photography. Today, I exhibit and sell both photographs and paintings.

As an artist and a scientist I know that art and science are not really an unlikely combination. Both strive to see nature with a fresh eye. In my work, I explore the inner richness of nature and the human form in a visual medium, looking for the structure underneath the surface, using the original colors our eyes combine together. My style is impressionism; my ideas expressed in pigments and through the camera lens. My aim: to find beauty in unexpected and unlikely places.

I studied with painters, Ken Goldman and Annette Paquet, photographers Stephen Burns and Jim Cline. I belong to San Diego Watercolor Society, La Jolla Art Association, Digital Art Guild, and UCSD Visual Arts Group. I am a judge for the San Diego Watercolor Society.

I create because I don't know any other way to live. I have an unquenchable need to give, as though I were a sponge: first I absorb water and then fully squeeze it out. I have a filter which transforms water into an elixir of life. Sometimes I feel that my human soul has unknown, other-worldly genes. Mixing human love and experience, and earthly beauty with other-worldly sparks, I create art. Sometimes I have a vision of worlds where space is perceived differently. I become obssessed with this vision. I cannot sleep or eat. I have different moods like fresh, nostalgic or sad. I need to create what I see. Sometimes I have an idea or thought which I want to deliver to the viewer, and I decipher it in images that allow a sense of my idea to gradually discover itself through its unique aesthetic beauty. I also express my ideas through paintings in which I create am elusive but very alive and trembling spirit or soul which produces associations in the viewer\'s eye. I intend the images from my paintings to penetrate softly into the viewer\'s human soul, below the levels of conscious understanding. I hope that my art will bring love, joy, sincerity and compassion. To paint this kind of art, music helps. In fact, I am a geuine music lover; for me, music functions as if it were resonating through the air to bring me a flow of chi energy. I wake people to life on such a level of harmony. Above all, I encourage them to express themselves through art and beauty.

In my childhood everything started with colored pencils.

In kindergarten, we always got pencils to draw with, but just one. And I always got blue. Having just one color produced in me a love of graphic symbols and symbolic graphics. For me they were visual signs which interrupted space. I was always attracted to the process of drawing itself.

I also had gifts from my father who was a creative man. From childhood he trusted in me regarding serious matters. We discussed the abstract paintings of Kandinsky and the energy his pictures were saturated with.

When I enter my creative state my inner sensitivity and vision sharpens its focus, while everything connected with everyday life fades into the background. At night when I cannot fall asleep I see exciting otherworldly spaces and visions and I hurry to wake up to start working/creating/painting.

The folk culture of Ukraine definitely influenced my art. In Ukraine, they like my work but somehow I felt that my more abstract paintings were not understood and that's why they didn't find places in galleries. Then I thought of sending my work to Latvia and other foreign countries, and was surprised to receive awards and honorable mention from many of them.

In 2006 I graduated National Academy of Fine Arts & Architecture in Kiev, Ukraine with degrees in interior decoration and architecture.

My art is contemporary primitive, pure art with an edge. The drawings are colorful, whimsical, easy to understand and fun to look at and enjoy.

Blocks of color give you serenity as the eye travels from space to space. There is something comfortable and secure about knowing and understanding what you are seeing. I draw animals to show their beauty, their innocence and the joy and happiness they bring to us. I draw with a sense of delight seeing how color interacts, awakens the spirit, and pleases the senses. I call it primitive because I try to keep it spontaneous not to correct or overwork the art. My first lines are always my best.

Through art, I have been fortunate enough to have earned critical acclaim and an ever-increasing following of collectors. My art has been exhibited domestically and internationally in such places as Newark Museum, Christies Auction House, New York; Art Fusion, Miami; Trump International, Miami.

Born in Lvov, Russia, I lived and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East before settling in New York City and very recently to Venice, California.

I began my formal studies in art while studying at the University of Texas in San Antonio and the School of Visual Arts in New York.

The art of the gaze, the archaic nature of the gaze is based on the particular individuals perceptions and ideologies, which is their innate self. We see before we can express in words: initially we interpret with our eyes through the process of gazing, looking, and seeing. Thus, the meaning of these images is interpreted by the subjective human experience and social orientation of the viewer (i.e. Gender, age, class, cultural identity etc.). Hence, the images function as indexical signs or markers for our individualistic hybridism.

These ideologies regarding the subjective nature of the individual as an apparatus for the complex hybridism of unconscious thought, based on the synergy of visual interpretation.

Every piece of art is unification of schemes, ultimately a unification and collision of ones self, visually then, verbally.

As the artist I am able to explain the programmatic elements of the pieces themselves ( i.e the use of every color, medium, composition etc…)

However, my intention and theory is that every person will use these pieces as indexical signs to catalyze the expression of their innate nature. In a sense, it is a visual phenomenology.

I expressed myself visually through creating each and every one of these works of art, it is up to you to use this work to verbally express yourself.

How do you make meaning of what you see…?

Nature is a gift that has been given to all of us, and some of my most beautiful palettes are derivatives from sunsets, rocks and the ocean. John Martin

John Martin is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, where he studied under the tutelage of Richard Diebenkorn, the famous Abstract Expressionist. John studied art at an exciting time when the "Bay Area Figurative Movement" was prevalent. John's oeuvre consists of figurative, biomorphic forms, and mid to later works of Abstract Expressionism, which also includes color-field painting, geometric abstraction, and aerial landscapes. John, like his mentor Richard Diebenkorn, vacillated between figurative abstraction and abstract expressionism, the latter being the main emphasis of his work from the mid 1980's to present. John discovered that the spontaneous and subconscious nature of abstract expressionism coupled with the absence of figures, best put forth the story of his euphoric and at other times turbulent life. John's work is not political, nor does it represent any opinion with regard to social events, but is merely emotionally driven with a tremendous influence of nature, both in its subject matter and palette.

Life and land forms, layers of space and time and deep nature- drive my work. As environments are changing and balance is turning to discontinuity, a kind of paradox which I believe resides in all deep truth emerges. My work is an exploration of this mystery and energy, and a celebration of the astonishing beauty of life on this planet.

These ideas have always infused my work, in the intaglio etchings that I have done and the new work. Currently I am working on a series of mixed media pieces which are developed with ink drawing, paint and layers of other materials.

I earned a BA in Fine Art at Long Island University and an MA from the University of New York at Stonybrook, where I began a lifelong commitment to printmaking, especially intaglio etching. I studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League in NY, and color intaglio techniques at Pratt Graphics Manhattan Center,and with Ruth Leaf in Douglaston New York. My intaglio editions have been published in Los Angeles, New York and in London.

Nothing makes us more human than the expression of a personal vision through art. For me it is photography. Black and white, color, film or digital. It is all good. Life is giving me little gifts all the time and to share my vision is my giving back.

When I touched clay for the first time, I knew that sculpture was the best way for me to tell my story. When I sculpt, I experience feelings

and images that dwell in my subconscious mind. These are revealed to me as I form the clay and fashion the ideas into actual objects. Sculpting is my relationship with life on all levels and its very sacred

to me. It allows me to look inside myself and then out to the world around me. I get great pleasure from following and trusting my intuition and process.

My formative years in Russia provided the context for much of my artistic expression. Drawing upon early cultural and educational experiences, vision and feelings connect and emerge from the clay.

I was born in Kiev Ukraine, where I spent the first thirty years of my life. Thus, Russian culture, in the forms of music, poetry, visual art, and meditation, were an important part of my life there. I was trained as a speech pathologist and worked in that field for eight years.

I moved to the United State to escape religious persecution in the Soviet Union. I arrived without family or friends, knowledge of English, or monetary support. I was a single mother with a 4-year

old son. It took me twenty years to build a new life and to bring my family to this country. As a consequence, I am largely a self-taught artist.

I was not able to articulate my artistic feelings for a very long time.

But, when I felt clay for the first time, I knew I found my medium.

I’m an abstract symbolist who works with color, texture, shape and storytelling imagery to convey my wonder and appreciation for this earthly experience we call life. I want to excite the sensibilities, to engulf, saturate. I have many messages but, mostly, my work invites others to address and confront the power of simple beauty, the incunabula, the unknown, rites of passages, epiphanies, rebirth. Transformation is a constant in life and essential to our evolution. Each step we take is sacred and decides the journey. Every breath requires a new commitment to courage. My paintings examine the personas, the bodies, the heavens, dark and mysterious corners, the stopping places and launching pads of the soul. I’m deeply affected by the style of the original artists, the cave painters. Scientists opine they were women. These days my studio features drawings by DaVinci, photos from the Webb telescope and undersea animals. I live in the crossfire of science, art and personal healing.

I am often thoughtful of unity and through-line, I seek to convey a freedom and visceral truth that is unencumbered by any one message or agenda. This allows me to construct each work with a joyful, exploratory energy.

Montealegre’s art education emerged under the tutelage of abstract painter, Robert Kingston.

She is a recipient of the Puffin Foundation Grant for her performance art piece: Portrait of the First Woman.

Montealegre has continued to win prizes for her paintings and her works are featured in several publications.

Montealegre’s recent BELLINGHAM'S WHATCOM MUSEUM presentation of her painting, Heal Thyself! was featured in the Lightcatcher building where Eva performed a joyful song to introduce the curator's presentation.

HIGGS BOSON, PORTRAIT OF THE FIRST WOMAN, the original painting by Eva Montealegre, a 64" x 96" oil on canvas, is featured in FIRST POST to announce the Nobel Prize Award to Peter Higgs for his creation theory explaining the origin of the Universe.

Eva’s painting, MOON ONE, is featured in the art book, ART TAKES TIMES SQUARE. Her figurative painting of a woman titled, CREATIVE CALL, is featured in the art book, WOMEN'S RIGHTS: An Artist’s Perspective sponsored by UniteWomen.Org. Her work has been honored by the City of Los Angeles in calendars and catalogs. She has participated in a number of Los Angeles community events.

2012 Eva's painting of the sun, IT'S ALRIGHT, receives first prize from WOMEN'S CAUCUS FOR ART. That same year Eva's painting DEEP VEIN #3 is presented at MOLAA'S WOMAN FESTIVAL.

Artists Statement; I began painting in 1999, the year before I began my studies in Otis College of Art and Design. Once I began in earnest, I was lead to the landscape, as I have a deep love for nature. I painted these from my own photographs. As I developed further, I began to paint the natural glories which I have experienced at sea as well as on land. Currently, the photographs that interest me were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. When they were first circulated on the net, I was immediately struck by the beauty and the immensity of space. My challenge has been to evoke that sense of immense space in paint. Many say that I have succeeded.

He was born in the Midwest mid-century, and has never been in the middle of anything since. A maverick in everything he has ever done, he was said to have invented the term ?holistic psychiatry.\\

Yuri was born in 1964 in Penza-the land of the genuine Russian traditions, the birthplace of numerous Russian talents in all fields and especially in art. He graduated from Penza Art Academy in 1991 and since 1996 has been participating in the regional and national exhibitions.

My hope is to move someone in one way shape or form.

Craig Pady was first exposed to the world of visual arts while attending public school in Toronto, Ontario. Raised in Don Mills, Craig had his first taste of success in the visual arts milieu when his work 'The Baron' won a competition and was displayed in shopping centres across Canada.

Later, as a musician and Dj and Music Supervisor for Television and Radio broadcaster, he spent many hours in bars, clubs and sound studios, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts, musicians, engineers and producers. But Craig never completely eschewed the visual arts. When time could be spared, the hours were spent in the studios of sculptors, photographers, illustrators and painters. Craig is known for his passion and very intense reaction to music. And recently, when he put his pen back to paper after an extended hiatus, he noticed that the sounds he heard were driving his pen. Then evolution took over and soon thereafter, he shifted his medium to paints and canvasses.

His approach is unique in the sense that he literally paints the music he hears by allowing the brush to follow the notes as they are being played. The sounds that drive this unique method of creation are often emanating from his extensive vinyl collection. It is something you have to see ? and hear ? to truly understand.

I explore my vocation by executing landscapes with oil paint on site.

The celestial paintings are experimentation with a more spacial aspect using acrylic.

These are the beginnings of all landscape and special happenings I am working to reinvent in my art.

Inspired by nature, the figure and weight. There is a continuum that feeds itself. I feel every color has its own movement, defined within all communication. Vibrations touch each individual in a completely different way and it was my exploration to tap into mine and start discovering how it affects perceptions.

Every piece of art has been a training ground, a land of discovery and exploration through lines, shapes and color. All of my projects will take the rest of my life.. and when I pass it will be complete.

Over the years my work has changed greatly, from small watercolour flowers and landscapes to my present style which leans towards the simplification of shapes. I now find myself on the borders between figurative and abstract art.

I love to experiment with many types of media using natural pigments, various stains, collage, acrylics, etc., but always with lots of water looking for those \\\\\'happy accidents\\\\\'.

My latest work has been inspired by the tropical gardens we have visited on our travels. These paintings are watercolour pigment on canvas and have been an exciting development for me as it has enabled mne to work on a much larger scale.

After retiring, my husband, Keith, and I moved from England to live in France and spent our first few years renovating an old water mill. When most of that work had been completed and I was searching for a new hobby, I took up water colour painting. This led to my taking a number of courses and classes locally. Painting has now become a major part of my life and gives me a tremendous amount of satifaction. Much of my inspiration comes from the beauty of the countryside surrounding our home in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, and also from as our travels particularly in Africa and India.

I have had a number of successful exhibitions on my own locally in France and also in Spain and I have participated many times in local exhibitions and events on a group basis.

I have always been attracted by landscape. As a subject it weaves in

and out of my work.

Wolves and Kimonos are emblematic of my work over a long period,representing a search for spirit, with the wolf as guide and the kimono a metaphoric actor on the stage of life. Landscape provides the background.

Born Chicago, Illinois, studied University of Michigan, resident American Academy in Rome, resided 12 years in Italy. Presently residing Ojai, Ca.Work internationally exhibited and in many important public and private collections.

Art is my way of life

Mark Pol, born 17th October 1943 in The Hague has found an early passion for painting. His interest in drawing and painting started in primary school. And later on he went to the Photo Academy followed by the Free Academy of Art led by George Lampe, both in The Hague.

The work of Mark Pol, also shown on his website (http://www.markpol.nl), is in essence inspired by daily human life, without losing its vulnerability and the animal unpredictability. Despite the timeframe the painting or drawing might seem to be in, humanity is key in his work.

In the early stage of a painting, Mark Pol draws his thoughts and dreams with a pencil and then continues his vision with a basis of oil - or acryl paint on canvas. The expression of Mark Pol are often too much for the two dimensional canvas and the result is a three dimensional world, shown in different materials.

По профессии юрист, но в душе глубокий романтик. Живу на юге Украины в живописном городе, окруженном реками – Николаеве.

Интерес к лоскутам возник вместе с одежками для кукол. Подбирая под столами закройщиков в ателье у мамы лоскутки, превращала их в платья для принцесс. В общем-то, как у любого начинания, цель была хозяйственная - жалко выкидывать лоскутки. Идея создания картин с восточной тематикой родилась лет в 12, интересовали детали интерьера, костюмы, философия Японии.

С самого детства я прониклась эстетикой японского любования каждым мигом жизни во всем его великолепии. Именно так – укиё-э – «образы изменчивого мира» называется японская гравюра. В центре внимания художников оказались несколько тем и направлений: прекрасные дамы, как правило куртизанки и гейши (жанр бидзин-га), актеры театра Кабуки и сцены из театральных постановок театра Но (жанр якуся-э), эротические сцены (сюнга – букв. перевод «весенние картинки»), изображение самураев и воинов, батальных сцен (жанр муся-э).

Оживляя гравюры, делая их из лоскутов объемными и живыми, я как бы даю возможность зрителю дотронуться до этой самобытной культуры, рассмотреть и ощутить каждый момент жизни Японии. Сохранены детали интерьера, соблюдена сложность причесок и цветовая гамма одежд, которые имеют глубину и объем присущий барельефу.

Своим работам я дала название, которым часто называют театр Но - «цудзурэ-нисики» - «парча из лоскутов», потому, что в работе живут не отдельные лоскуточки, а единые персонажи, которые являют собой парчовую душу Японии.

Моя основная цель - передать всё мое восхищение самобытной восточной культурой людям.

STATEMENT

"I love the sea, the grass, the tree, the animals, the animate and inanimate world. The

material. Am I perhaps a narrow-minded materialist? No, the spirit is immaterial but the

material is the worldly manifestation of the spirit. When I worked as a dental technician, I had

to cast metal and mould wax, plaster and porcelain. I was not captivated with this narrow

range of people. I studied Biology and drawing and also taught them, I was wandering

around in the world, loved the colourful, transparent world of the Cuban seas, the whirling

movement of the barracudas, the endless and timeless space of the Mongolian deserts, the

chaotic and artistic magic of Indonesia, enjoyed skiing among the peaks of the Elbrus

considered even by Reinhold Meissner one of the most amazing natural slopes. I savoured

exploring Vanatau, Tonga, Tahiti and Bora Bora and the friendly people there, their songs,

sorrows, faith, their endless respect for their beloved islands and enjoyed their unrestricted

appetite for beauty, erotica, exuberance and abundance. I was diving in seas and oceans

where lemon, steel-blue and red fish were flashing and gleaming with intensive colours never

seen before in the tropical sunshine together with corals and plants. The impenetrable rain

forests have presented all the variations of green. And the island of real peace: New

Zealand. I love it. Although my homesickness drives me home to Hungary, being here I do

not know where my real home is and I long to return there. I have travelled around the world

and know: it is small, blue and fragile! This is what I see from the height of 11.000 metres.

But through my microscope I can sense the cavalcade of similar momentary magic as well. I

am an earthling like so many, seemingly animate and inanimate creatures of God abounding

with colours and shapes. As time passes by I have experienced during my trips that all this is

perishing. I do not want my children, my students, the explorers of the future not to be able to

see this magic. I am presenting some fragments from the endless world and giving them to

the spectators with love."

Eileen Ransford was born August 20 1967.Growing up in Minneapolis As a child fell in love with painting, colors and textures. Improvised on wood and canvas. Felling each material gives different response and is a way to express hersef.

In 1986 after graduating Highschool Eileen felt a need to tap into Art field knowledge and studied at Minneapolis School of Art and Design, MCAD Minneapolis. A very well know Art school. After moving to Hawaii She felt inspired to paint and create this series of works with floral design.

Now Eileen resides in California and continues her search for her expression of her artistic soul.

Lisa Rasmussen is a painter, art advocate, environmental artist, and educator. She was born in Wisconsin and has her roots in Scandinavia and Ireland. Lisa comes from a working class family, who has always supported her to follow her dreams to become an Artist. Her late Mother, Mickey was Lisa’s Muse, she fostered in her the practice of Art as being a form of expression and personal healing. Early on Lisa developed a thirst for travel and distant cultures. A key conceptual element of her artistic process is the study and travel to ancient cultures and sacred sites around the world. Some of her travel adventures include Nepal, Peru, Ireland, and Brazil. She has also lived and taught English in the mountains of South, China, as well as she had studied antiquities, the Art of the Renaissance, and Ceramics in Florence, Italy.

For her painting is a very visceral, physical, and metaphysical process. Rasmussen’s paintings have been called abstract expressionism, with a spiritual twist. Her paintings reflect her holistic worldview and her deep connection with the natural world. For Rasmussen, art making is a transcendental experience. When she paints, Rasmussen taps into a force greater than herself; a force that creates through her. Each painting is a product of her dance with divinity. Through her process she hopes to invoke in herself and the viewer a deeper connection to the world within and around.

Lisa Rasmussen is an award winning artist and educator. She is the Co-founding Executive Director of the new paradigm, award winning Art 4 All People LLC in Malibu. . She has over 6 years experience working at high-end fine art galleries in Chicago and San Francisco. She has sold original works created by Picasso, Chagall, Rembrandt, Dali, Miro, among others.Lisa is also a professional Transformative Artist and Teacher. Currently her work is being represented at a San Francisco Bay Area Fine Art Gallery. Additionally, Lisa pioneered an award-winning expressive art program for emotionally traumatized and abused youth in Oakland, and developed a professional art gallery for the residents of Lincoln Child Center. She has also taught expressive art to elders, at-risk teens, and has been an art coach to adults. Lisa is also the Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Non-profit Art is Moving and Art Break Day, which is community art reach event offering people the means and the space to bond with their community via the art-making process.

Problem solving is the primary motivating factor in my work. I see myself as a facilitator more so than an artist; setting up creative challenges for myself in which the final works emerge from an ad hoc sensibility and a malleable understand of art history. I derive influence from such art movements as: Art Brut, Fluxus, and Object Trouve`; and artists such as: Joseph Cornell, Louise Nevelson, Robert Rauschenberg, and Julian Schnabel, to name a few.

My love is Zen painting an expression of no thought. A burst of energy.

As a child I was good at drawing and painting landscape scenes using vivid colors. I returned to painting in the 90's while I was traveling in India. I studied with Meera, a well known abstract Japanese artist, who used a no-mind, zen approach to painting.

Creative expression is a willingness to be open to what evolves on the canvas.

With no goal or result in mind, the time spent on the painting, the journey, is the result.

Whether or not it is pleasing to the eye, or to someone elses eye is another story.

My joy in painting is the appearance of shapes and colors rapidly forming before me. It takes me into quiet space inside.

Jane Serebrenikov’s narrative graphical art works reflect her deeply lyrical and uniquely poetical vision. All her life she is interested in visual art and, grown up on fairy tales, combines magic, vivid imagination and sense of humor in her art works. She also inspired by the arts of Mark Chagall and Reno Magritte.

Jane is started etching 5 years ego and has been taken part of several exhibitions. She sold her arts nationally and internationally. She makes aquatint etchings. This is where the plate is immersed in acid and the lines and tones achieved when the acid “bites” the areas which have not been masked. Than color applied manually and print on printmaking press. Each print is unique.

Jane was born in Moscow, Russia and immigrated to Los Angeles in 1995 with her family. She graduated college as a graphic designer, holds AA degree and contentious working in printmaking studio.

Art statement: My work depicts and implies the flow of versatile emotions of a human soul, with accents on the edge of feelings and experiences every one of may have at a certain time period of life. One word that would describe my painting is "ENERGY". I exert energy in its purest emotional form upon the colors in my paintings.The bright red colors, dominant in my work, emphasize the deepest emotions one may have, whereas more subtle colors represent hope, love, and faith. Monika Steiner

My work is inspired by Metaphysics and Buddhism. I paint because it allows me to investigate the subtle relationship between perception and material reality. My paintings, influenced by the ever changing nature of life, feature emerging and dissolving spheres floating in empty space as a way of exploring the endless possibilities inherent in appearances.

I contemplate the concept of the interconnectedness of all things until it takes form as an interesting visual abstraction. The work gains richness and complexity as successive layers of paints are added until I feel that a hypnotically meditative and harmonious composition has been achieved.

My ultimate intention is that the space between the painting’s surface and the viewer’s perception of that surface will become a mirror for them to observe the movement of their own thoughts.

Born in Switzerland, Monika Steiner currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where she received her BFA degree from Sonoma State University. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally in galleries, museums, and public exhibitions. She is represented by Micaela Gallery in San Francisco, Erickson Fine Art in Healdsburg, and Marji Gallery in Santa Fe. Monika paints and sculpts full time.

As an artist and writer, I feel that all we see and do in life is worthy of some form of documentation.

Ultimately I am drawn to the grace of nature, and all other subject matter. I am keenly aware of the simple refinement in the compositions I see. We are always in a state of transition, and all of life is ephemeral. Having captured a fleeting moment, or discovered something very simple, yet unique in my mind s eye reminds me that there is value and worth in everything.

Susanne Swanson-Bernard has had a camera in her hand since the age of 7 yrs old. She was born in Germany and has enjoyed visiting much of Europe, including Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.

Early on Susanne learned that she had the drive to write, paint, and take photos. Ms. Swanson-Bernard knows of the healing power of art, and writing, and she s helped many causes by permitting her art to be auctioned off at various fundraisers.

Susanne has had her own struggles and is the single parent of a wonderful son named Trevor, who is now an emerging writer/filmmaker, and shares Susanne s artistic talents.

Ms. Swanson-Bernard is a true believer in the power of one image, and the power of film. She is an active member of Shoot 4 Change, and donates her images to raise awareness of the Global Landmine Crisis and other causes such as the fight to protect dolphins and other whales, as chronicled in the film - The Cove - a film that moved Susanne to pick up the phone and become a great advocate for Ric O Barry and the dolphins.

As an award winning artist, primarily a photographer, Susanne feels that everything we see and do in life is worthy of some type of documentation. Ms. Swanson-Bernard continues to write poetry, books and freelance articles. She also works in multi-media collage art.

With 3 published children s books on the market, and more to come, this author, photographer, poet and activist keeps busy.

Susanne currently lives in Boise, Idaho.

Sallie-Anne Swift (a Graphic Designer) moved from Melbourne, Australia to Long

Beach, California in 2008 and started exhibiting in the USA in 2011. With a keen

awareness of her environment, her great love of nature, wildlife and music, she

expresses herself on canvas with an interesting approach using acrylic and

clever use of other mixed mediums giving a fresh approach to her contemporary

abstract art that highlights and reflects our ever changing environment, nature

and wildlife.

For many years she focused on realism and began exhibiting her work in Australia in 1984 and had numerous successes in some of Melbourne’s most renowned Art Exhibitions.

She has exhibited in Art Galleries throughout Melbourne, Victoria and acquired commissions for her paintings both Australia wide and Internationally. In 2001 The Equestrian Federation of Australia

commissioned the artist to do an oil painting of world cup winner, “Kyra Kirkland” for Emirates Airlines who sponsor the prestigious, “Dressage With The Stars” competition held in Melbourne each

year.

Since focusing on her abstracts Sallie-Anne the artist has won several international awards. She was an exhibitor at Miami Red Dot 2011 and this year she received invitations to exhibit in galleries in Florence, Italy, New York and Las Vegas. Her work has been published in Southwest Art Magazine and American Art Collector 2011 and can be seen in “INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY MASTERS V”, 2012.

Most recent projects is a series called "FASCINATING RESILIENT WOMEN" - I'm inspired by the strong women of 2018 who came forward and told their story. In this series I'm using multimedia materials - Clay, Cement, Brunches, stones, metals....

​Recent Project: “AERIALISTS IN MOTION” – Deeply inspired by the motions and fabric used by a professional aerialist. I captured a sequence of 4 poses and began sculpting . Starting with wire armature and oil clay forming the sculpture and casted in acrylic bronze powder.

I believe that I was born an artist. My sculptures represent my passions of movement, music and nature. My art is especially a reflection of my early career as a dancer. Growing up on the beach in Israel, I was motivated by the fresh air of the sea, feeling the crumbly sand on my toes and listening to music. My soul awakened to the beats of music and I began to dance as a form of expression. When I was four years old I started taking Ballet classes. At the age of 14, I became a professional dancer throughout Israel and was featured in the theater, movies, television shows, and the Israeli opera. My parents always believed in me and helped me to pursue my dreams. In college I studied ceramics, painting, and pottery which led to sculpting. Using my hands to form, discover and create the clay connects me to earth and brings me back to nature. My two passions collide as nature and movement become one in a sculpture. I use metal, water clay, oil clay, wood, and recycled materials to sculpt. The finished product is in an acrylic, bronze, fired clay, wood or natural recycled objects. Spirituality plays a big role in my work. I begin each project with lighting a candle and saying a prayer to my spirit guides asking for guidance with my work. Listening to music allows my body to move and mold the sculptures.

My inspiration is nature. My work is an ongoing study of the dynamic relationship between form and emotion.

Ushangi’s work is highly recognizable for its unique artistry and style, which stem from his inner vision and his immersion in the culture of his native Georgia and other ethnic cultures of the former Soviet Union.

His lifelong devotion to his art began at age 9 with his first stone sculpture, which was completed at age 11. His first award in competition came at age 13. Much other Soviet recognition followed, including: Young Georgians Award (1970), Union of Georgian Artists Award (1971), Moscow Art Fund Award (1973), first place in the All USSR Competition of 1981 for his Memorial Monument to Tsiolkovski, the leading Soviet Space Scientist.

In 1981 he was brought to Moscow as a sculptor for the Russian Department of Monuments. During this period, he was also Master/Teacher at the Moscow Studio of Fine Arts.

Ushangi is a 1968 Graduate of the State Art School, Tbilisi, Georgia and a 1972 Graduate of the Georgian National College of the Arts.

Since immigrating to the United States, Ushangi’s work has been exhibited and commissioned in Washington D.C., the San Francisco Bay Area, the Sierra Foothills and Los Angeles, where he currently resides.

Since my youth in the '60s, exploring oil painting to drawing, carved wood to cast cement, I have invented a personal world of the imagination that I desire to share, crossing all ages, races and creeds.

The color pencil drawings appear as an alternative universe, familiar at the same time as strange, recalling Yves Tanguy or De Chirico. The scenes turbulent, yet inviting, are dreamlike and meditative, evoking emotions according to the individual viewer's own visceral reaction. My work demands the viewer to keep scouring the surface of the compositions, searching amidst the ethereal shapes to find what their imagination and spirit shows them. For me they parody the human condition and origins, perhaps their future.

IGOR VISHNYAKOV

Igor Vishnyakov was born in 1968 in Moscow and spent his childhood in Africa and Southeast Asia. After returning to Moscow in the mid-80’s he started painting and photographing key figures of the Russian avant-garde movement, and began to widely exhibit his work. In his youth Vishnyakov became a significant figure in the Moscow and St. Petersburg art community.

He became a permanent member of the New Academy of Fine Arts soon after it was founded by Timur Novikov in 1989. He was first made aware of alternate photographic printing processes while studying in the New Academy. Amongst other photographers such as Novikov, Egelskiy, Alexandrov, Ostrov and other Academy members, Vishnyakov was engaged in reviving precious photo printing techniques widely spread in the XIX century, such as gum arabic pigment print, bromoils, calotypes, chirotypes, carbon process, Savrasov and Sery methods and many others.

In 1990 Vishnyakov moved to New York to establish himself as a reporter and then as a fashion photographer and soon got his work published in a dozen of American and European magazines. Soon after, he continued his art education in the New York studio of a French painter, Emmanuel Flipo. Although living as an emigrant, Vishnyakov retained his connections with the Russian art world, especially with the New Academy, and participated in a number of group exhibitions. In 1997 he joined the movement that gathered neo-academics from Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Art Coming From Life And It Is A Life. The purpose of her art is to connect, to give anyone looking at her work at certain ways in which she sees uncompromising realism, surrealism, transcended by powerful contrasts of light.

BIOGRAPHY.

Madelyn Webb

Madelyn Webb started painting at a young age, had desires of being an artist. At school ages in art class she draw a painting by her imagination, but her teacher didn’t like it because it wasn’t following his standards. After a while that painting took a first place at regional art festival.

After that she start to draw at home studio and didn’t show her art to any professionals.

She’s immigrated to the United States in hopes of pursuing her passion for the fine arts. Madelyn attended art and music classes at LA City College, but dropped out because she had home situations and taking care of sick parents.

Throughout the years she dabbled in art as a hobby but never fully pursued it.

She went on to get her masters by attending Los Angeles Film School Academy where she’s focus on art and perspectives. She realized that her calling was art, even friends encourage her to be an artist, and that is when she put her full focus on paintings and being an artist. She had guidance by a few renounced artists. Madelyn’s works are a part of various collections. Her highly abstract improvisations have become increasingly representational.

The purpose of her art is to connect, to give anyone looking at her work at certain ways in which she sees uncompromising realism, surrealism, transcended by powerful contrasts of light.

unites a visual trilogy of country people, their landscapes and lifestyles in humanist, spiritual, pictorial harmony. Willat brings a centered, thoughtful and organic approach to photography and to the living of a purposeful artists' life. The serenity in her images is both pensive and evocative; mirroring her contemplative intellect and ebullient personality. The artist’s best works percolate with a Mandala-full of life forces that emanate from her subjects, which she shoots in situ. Her most interesting pictures linger in the mind's eye. They move the viewer into spaces where we breathe deeper and slower- harmonizing with those who inhabit the visual world that Willat creates.

“I can get lost in the moment. The shutter seems to click on its own when I'm fortunate enough to capture someone at one with their environment. My favorite shots are not portraits and they’re not landscapes. I like to shoot people going about the living of their lives within their lands. They become defined by how and where they live. That’s what I’m known for.”

Jemmaa El Fna, a cityscape of Marrakesh’s town square, is a pageant of humanity where horse drawn carriages, push carts and shoe shine stands are readying the famous marketplace for day’s end. It perfectly expresses the interchangeability of Willat’s desire to characterize those she shoots by the places they inhabit and to portray these places by the persons who populate them.

Felice Willat is an award-winning travel photographer and publisher, whose images from Burma, Morocco, China, Vietnam and Argentina, capture the beauty of the human landscape across cultures. Willat's photographs have been juried into the Los Angeles Center for Photography, Photo LA, Photo Independent, TAG Gallery, Bergamot Station, the Brand Library, Glendale, CA, and numerous other venues across the United States and in London, UK and Italy.In 2010, Felice won First Prize, for her Travel images in the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs’ annual juried exhibition. In 2009 Felice published The Quiet Between, Song of Burma, a book of photography and poems.

Felice sees her camera as providing a sense of time expansion and stillness. She says, “I could capture a moment, something sacred or commonplace, an unconscious gesture, a tattered clothesline, a red plastic pitcher, or a worn prayer book. I like to leave the familiar, travel to far-away places, and find the gift of really being present.”

In my work I examine systems such as library catalogues, and their progressions away from physical paper. Much of this paper exists as a chaotic storm that settles as landfill once the system has died. It is our belief and use of these systems, and our sudden shifts in technology that creates enormous waste. Library cards are but one of many such systems. Office equipment suffers a similar critically important, yet short life span, machinery is outmoded and often discarded in full working order. Many of my earliest toys were office supplies; rubber stamps, staplers, out of date calendars I would reuse as notebooks. Penny Young is a sculptor, poet and arts educator. Her practice includes paper and ceramic sculpture, installation, drawing and kinetic works. Ms. Young graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara, and received her M.F.A. from California State University Northridge.

Penny has been an artist-in-residence at Mt. St. Mary?s College in Santa Monica, California and at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, California. She was the Chairman of the Art in Public Places Committee for the City of Burbank, and consulted on set as an artist and prop-maker for Hungry Man Productions and the HBO Series Six Feet Under.

She has taught at California State University Long Beach and Northridge, the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and Inner-City Arts in downtown Los Angeles. At Wonderland Avenue Elementary, Penny worked as a Coordinator for parent volunteers teaching art. Penny currently lives and works in the Los Angeles area creating large-scale paper mache objects, ink drawings and writing poetry.

My art brings pleasure and happiness to my heart. The concept is to share and express these feelings with others. The color combinations that I use are vibrant and the shapes are simple. They are fun images that reflect my Brazilian background.

I am grateful to be exposed to and appreciated by a large diversity of people. In all, I consider myself fortunate to be able to work with what I enjoy most, ART.

Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sandra Zebi received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Industrial Design, also studying Architecture and Classic Sculpture. In addition, she studied fine art for 2 years in London, England. She moved to her current home, Los Angeles, California, in 1986.

Zebi has traveled throughout Europe, Asia and the Pacific Islands. Her artistic eye led her to acquire a comprehensive view of the diversity of these cultures. This, in turn, led to the fascination for different cultures that resonates in her unique, distinctive, graphic style - and her use of colors - all of which are enhanced by her tropical Brazilian personality.

Zebi’s work has been featured in several magazines and newspapers. Zebi’s creative ceramics and art have been on display and have sold nationally in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Honolulu, Dallas, Miami and the greater Los Angeles area. Zebi’s custom design tiles can be found in bathrooms, kitchens, pools, and fireplaces. She has painted various permanent murals and sculptures in Los Angeles and abroad. Throughout the years Zebi has participated in numerous exhibits, completed various backdrops, and freestanding sculptures for the African Market Place in Los Angeles. Currently, Zebi’s work combines clay, metals, and wood. Zebi works out of her Marina Del Rey studio where she is constantly exploring new avenues to expand and elevate her creative vision.
